Re: Good Luck Cody

Congrats on the run Cody. Looks like you proved a good chunk of folks wrong, especially those early folks in the thread.

Well earned and hope the recovery from this enormous achievement is a quick one!

Happy trails,
Ryne

Re: Vancouver North Shore Half Marathon

Neither NSA or RTNS are putting on/sponsoring the event this year.

Best options for a fall half will be Surrey (Sept 30th) or the Island or Kelowna on Oct 7th.

Re: Good Luck Cody

Long time no post...someone directed me to this thread and felt the need to give a few comments: (1) His training base maybe light but on paper it's not entirely horrendous. 75k a week to start, then upping it ti 5x20k = 100km per week with some 3 days of 80km thrown in there. Clark Zealand would on...

Re: Stupid Freakin Flu!! (and how/when to start running again)

I came down with H1N1 three weeks before the Ozark 100 miler. The flu knocked me on my ass. I have never felt that out of it and lazy in my life. I had a big mileage weekend planned but obviously it didn't pan out. I did get a few short 40-50 minute runs in. They hurt. But I think the fresh air help...

Re: Toronto Marathons: 1 vs 2; spring vs fall

it's not about the RD's being stubborn and digging in their heels. they are two different businesses. having them merge would be as likely as saying Tim Hortons and Starbucks have to merge. It just won't happen. If one is forced to move then who do you make move? The Toronto Int'l was there first bu...

my $0.02 1 - Sole insoles I wouldn't exactly call an "orthotic" They aren't corrective. They don't have a shell. They provide a deep(ish) heel cup and the arch of them is very flexible. I just picked up a pair of Montrail San Juan dress shoes and the actually come with the Montrail Enduro Sole as th...

Re: Run for the Road vs Vulture Bait

I really want to do a 25K trail race this fall - which is a better experience in your opinion? I would probably be crazy to go with the Toad since I am running the STWM half the week before, but I keep getting intrigued by the hype. Are both courses doable for beginners? My point of comparison is H...

JFK will have people that take 14 hours to do 50 miles. Its the same speed as a 28 hour 100 miler (cutoff was 30). Its what makes 100s fun! Karl Meltzer ran the 2nd fastest time ever at Hardrock 100 and won this year in a time of 24:36 (about 4 miles an hour) and he is a beast! Also makes it even mo...

of course it is! Even sex can be considered a brick workout provided you change outfits between sessions!

I now consider all runs where I change shoes and fanny packs bricks ;)

today I ran 30 miles. The first 5 was on road. Then a 10 minute break followed by a 16 mile trail run. Then a 90 minutes break then another 9 mile run (trail/road) combo. Am I allowed to call this a double brick workout without offending any triathafolks?

Juan de Fuca Trail 47k - Pics and Video added at bottom

About mid last week Montrail teammate Gary Robbins and myself realized we both had the same days off work and he threw out the idea of going to run the Juan de Fuca (JDF) Trail on Vancouver Island. I have heard rave things about the trail and figured why not! Gary looked into a few things including ...

So I'm told. 30 mile long run 6-8 weeks out was part of it! and note that i did give you permission to drop at...
