Environmental Friday

It is Friday and as usual I am working from home; which means I got an 80 min run on Seabrook trails. Good and sweaty. In April I applied to a position inside my company. Finally the interviews are today. 6 people applied and all 6 are being interviewed... today. Mine is not til 3:30, last. Wish me ...

Re: Why are rich people drawn to endurance sports?

I don't think it is about the pursuit of pain. I think it is time and money availability; plus I didn't work with my body all day.

I'm not really a fan of extreme body building, but I do admire the lifestyle of this 71 year old female body builder.

Re: 75 YO Lady Crossfit Star

Here is another lady. 71 years old now, I have seen her at several races (even arriving on a Harley trike to Wyoming). Check out page 5 of attached news letter. She really got started with marathoning at age 61.

Got my 21 SUNDAY

Did it! Actually, the goal was 20 miles, but it looked like I'd end a loop with 20.6 miles so I did a short out and back to get to 21.1 miles. It was slow but I got it done. I spent the whole run wishing I was an ultra-runner; I mean a good ultra- runner. Me? I barely survive, but I am going to keep...

75 YO Lady Crossfit Star

Yeah, here is another story about an older athlete. I collect these as inspiration for me to keep going.

Made it out of bed SATURDAY

The alarm went off at 4:30 and I got up! Made it to Brummerhop park by 5:45. 3 hours, 14 miles and 40 oz of water, time for a shower.... maybe a little treadmill walking later.

Have a great day today, Spirit, Happy 4th to me. So far, I slept in. Worked on my project. Did 90 minutes of machines and 90 min of running on the tm. Showered and now eating. I am wearing my stars and striped Marathon Maniacs shirt. America is filled with beautiful people and beautiful scenery. Un...

Tempo Friday

I don't know what got into me this morning. Mile 1 was the usual slow barely breaking 13 min/mile. But then.... mile 2 at 11:25. Mile 3 at 11:07. Mile 4 at 10:21. Mile 5 at 10:59. I forgot to look at mile 6. Mile 7 was slower at 11:27, but still, wow! All this in steamy Seabrook where the low at nig...

Happiness Friday

I was happy to go for a run outside in a park this morning. I got to see a red sunrise over Galveston bay. The red color reflected off windows in the distance to the right, so part of the coast looked like a string for fire diamonds. I also saw a herd of 6 deer. Many bunny rabbits. And the usual con...
