Re: ORW Weather Forecast . . .

I am going to assume that most people who had shortened races at ORW were making smart health decisions (or were having those decisions made for them) regardless of their pace. I had 2 pacers DNF in the marathon and 1 in the half, and several others well off mark (as well as a lot of really really ...

Re: ORW Weather Forecast . . .

A friend of mine did the 5K, which started at 4pm, and was not impressed that the only water station on the course was around the 4.6K mark. She told me the 5K had more medical issues than all the other events. Hopefully something is learned from that particular event. Anyone know why they changed t...

Re: WHY BIKE THIEVES LOVE STRAVA

I use the Privacy Zone. And my good bikes are in my house, not in my shed. My commuter bike is in my shed, though. I've also heard that having an expensive bike rack (like a Thule) on your car, parked in the driveway, alerts would-be thieves that there are likely expensive bikes being stored on the...

You are amazing, Jesse! What a great demonstration of determination you did. :) I'm sorry you didn't get your BQ, but amazed by your 14 minute PB! Way to go!

I've signed up for my first ever trail running race: I'll be doing the 3K at Camp Fortune in early July as part of the MEC race series. Very excited about this beginner-friendly distance!

Re: Returning to running after car accident

I guess what I was trying to say (stupid brain fog...) is to respect your body and the speed at which your brain heals. Do things that feel right and don't cause symptoms to get worse. Celebrate the little victories. And know that you will get better and that you'll be able to run (and enjoy it) as ...

Re: Returning to running after car accident

I'm just reading this. I got a concussion while whitewater rafting in July 2014. I was off work for about 3 weeks, then I pushed through it for about a month before my brain completely shut down one day and I crashed hard. I haven't worked since September 25th and won't until at least January. My ad...

Re: Ottawa Race Weekend 2014: Pacer Accountability

Those are awesome stats, Mark! :D

From a spectator perspective, I love knowing that the pace bunnies are actually on pace because I use them to assess how the runners i'm following are doing, if i'm about to see them, if they sped up or slowed down, etc.

Kelodie BEATS The Mental in the ORW 10K

It has been 7 years since I ran a 10K race. 6 years since I ran 10K in training. Last fall, I decided to sign up for the 10K at Race Weekend thinking it would motivate me to get out there and run. I have been running 5Ks for many years now, but I have had so many injuries that I did not perform in a...

Just back from the expo, lots of booths. HM shirt is mainly white with red trim and maple leaves detailed into the trim - very nice! 10km shirt is a disappointingly bland generic blue shirt, no trim - what gives? Didn't see the marathon one, was too busy crying about the bland blue shirt! Boo! Mayb...
