Ran the full marathon last year in its 40th anniversary. Loved it - especially the 2nd half of the course. Well organized from start to finish. Signed up for this again!

Can't go wrong with either race. I've run the Mississauga Marathon the last 2 years and miss the Toronto Marathon - so registered for Toronto Marathon for 2015.

Re: Toronto Goodlife - course changes?

I read about this change this morning on Twitter. Is the change now confirmed? I find the expo at the CNE inconvenient as well - liked it when it was at the Sheraton Centre. The Mississuaga Marathon gives free shuttle bus service from the finish line to the start-line. Hopefully the same service is ...

3 weeks away...giving serious thought to the Hamilton Marathon. I walked the marathon in its first year. Was quite well organized back then. Wonder what's it like now.

Re: 27 year old man dies running Toronto marathon

Heard about the death on 680 News when I got home. Shocking and very sad. Have heard it is better not to sprint to the finish line - I was exhausted in the marathon today so there was no sprinting from me. Whatever is the cause, a reminder to see the doctor if we notice anything not right - but thes...

Re: Toronto Waterfront Marathon - SOLD OUT

Not sure why the city enforced such a late start of 9 AM. I like the structure of the Toronto Marathon with half and full starting an hour apart. Last year's Waterfront Marathon was quite packed for the first 10 K before it opened up.

Re: I guess I don't need to go to Chicago next year...

I remember someone selling Boston Marathon finisher's medals -- he had about 10 of them in the same year. I contacted the race director who informed me they have told this person to stop selling the medals on e-Bay. How this person got hold of so many finisher's medals is beyond me. No problem selli...

Re: Runner who collapsed during Chicago Marathon, dies

Heard about the death on 680 News yesterday. Very sad :( Chicago seems to get hotter than usual weather for their marathons. I'm not sure how one would know when to stop -- I agree with others as you want to reach the finish line - but at what cost?? Perhaps it's the "give it your all" nea...

Re: Midsummer night's run

Agreed with the comments written. The course was indeed short about half kilometre. That did happen at about the 25K - in Ashbridges Bay. Unless I can run 1K in a couple of minutes?? There were 2 volunteers pointing us to turn left rather than run ahead. Also, the Cherry Beach part was a mess - I fo...

Re: Midsummer night's run

I'm #46 in the 30K run. I, too, was disappointed they returned to the tech shirt (from last year's hoodies). I was caught off guard when there was a choice between white or black tech shirt. Bib, tech shirt, mortal pin - in and out within a couple of minutes. This ones always a well-organized race.

Re: Toronto won't bid for 2020 Olympics

Heard this morning Toyko has officially put in a bid. Not sure how Toronto would have done. I remember back for the 2008 bid there were protests - everyone needs to be on board with the bid - you can't have people holding signs in protest. There was so much "drama" with road closures when ...

Re: Midsummer night's run

Always enjoy this race. Even though it is an evening race, it doesn't get dark -- wait...now that it's been moved to late August, the race probably will get dark near the end. I agree with all that's been written. The finisher's medal is nice; hoodie last year was great; wonderful volunteers. The ex...

Re: Cost of races and events

I know the feeling about race registration costs. I do sign up very early to get the best price - but once in a while I cannot attend the race (e.g., feeling under the weather) - so I wonder if it really is a good idea to register so early - or wait until the expo. I have cut down on the number of r...

This is a wonderful post and glad I read it before tomorrow's Toronto Marathon. My hope is the rain will not be for the entire race. A drizzle is good. Good luck to everyone tomorrow :) I'm bib #1213. Went to the expo after work yesterday -- seems smaller than before. Bib pick up had huge line-up for the half marathon. Fortunately I asked someone if that was the line-up for the marathon -- it wasn't. Observed one of the volunteers get "yelled ...

I keep all my bibs in a binder with protective sleeves. I also keep a printout of the race results as well as race leaflet/brochure. The finisher's medals from past years are stored in a shoe box. Current medals hand on the wall. Tech shirts from past years are hung in the closet. This year's tech s...

Re: Toronto Expos - Do you like them held at the CNE Grounds ?

Not convenient. In the same location as the Toronto Waterfront race -- one would think they want to distance themselves. More physical space so not as crowded -- but not enough exhibiters as the entire hall was not used. I was thirsty and there were no free samples (e.g., OASIS juice). Yeah -- not a...
