Re: Tour de france 2015

As much flak as I've given Lance, he has every right to be at the Tour as a spectator and/or charity rider.

Well... haven't seen the stage, but saw the results.

NOT NORMAL.

The TdF is the same farce as usual. *sigh*

Re: Tour de france 2015

Lance hooked a spectator's shopping bag with his handlebars and went down. I believe he was fighting with Jan Ullrich during the climb and Jan waited for Lance to rejoin him. It was an example of good sportsmanship. That was unlike the controversial incident in which Contador attacked when Andi Sch...

Re: Sit bones

Not sure if you want to try a new saddle, but I recently discovered what I think is the most comfortable saddle I have ever ridden.... the Selle SMP. I got an "Evolution" model tester from my LBS. It's in Selle SMP's "minimal" padding line. I was told long ago that less padding i...

Re: JWolf's Red Deer Experience

Completely forgot you were in Sherwood Park this past weekend. Will have to get out to Vancouver to finally meet you in person some day. Isn't Red Deer an awesome place to race? I've done both the half and full in Red Deer when that race first started many years ago. I love running in Red Deer when...

It's still a rough guide, but yeah. I'll ask my heavier buddies what pressures they use at the bike races this weekend.

I'd ridden tires well under their recommended pressure for CX racing. Minimum 70psi? HA! Try 28psi...

Re: Tire question

Thank you again Sir ! I'm going to do some experimenting, bearing in mind that am (ahem) a Clydesdale and fairly new to all this skinny tire business... :D As a Clydesdale I would recommend 25mm+ tires for sure! (as long as they fit your frame/brakes) You will be able to drop your psi and see an in...

"Still the best mix of aero, low rr, puncture resistance and durability is the original Conti GP4000S 23C with latex tubes of course... Tire pressure almost makes a difference on rolling resistance. Too high is just as bad as too low." I just run the tire pressure recommended on the sidew...

Re: Tire question

Other than the obvious benefit of running a narrower tire for less rolling resistance, what are the pros and cons of running 21, 23, or 25 widths ? I just saw a pic of an IM guys' bike, and he was running 25s, that goes counter to what I would have expected.... http://www.slowtwitch.com/Products/Th...

Sheesh, if you want ridiculously selective races, watch the women's UCI tour.

Bunch sprint means tight fields.

Re: UCI finally comes clean?

I saw that. For the UCI to admit that they were involved in covering up not just Armstrong's doping tests, but Contador's, too... Shocked, but not surprised. It makes me angry that everyone other than Armstrong essentially got off with little-to-no long-term penalties . A-hem... completely not true...

Interesting- thanks for the link. The author also ask talk about paddles and bands, both of when make the workout much tougher. No mention of fins though. I know many people aren't a fan of fins, but they have helped me with my body position a lot. I use them for only a percentage of my drill set. ...

Re: To flip or not to flip...

Swimming with flip turns make you a stronger swimmer the same way that running with the wind makes you a stronger runner Swimming with flip turns is like running 400m on a track vs running 200m, turning around and running 200m back. Are there starting blocks at the turnaround? Let's go with a pylon...

The reason I remember it was the Okanagan Mountain Fire is I was staying at my parents' when it started, and my mom was head of emergency operations for Area E (Naramata). There is no training benefit whatsoever in using a pace clock over a watch - it's just pool snobbery. Interesting point. 15 replies and some strong opinions but nobody ...

Re: Pace clock or watch in the pool?

Getting wacked by a wrist hurts much less than by a wrist with a watch on it. No watches during group training. That would mean no paddles either, which I use almost every workout. I always thought the no watch rule was because it changes the technique slightly on the one arm... and you'll never se...
