Re: What Are You Struggling With?

I (like La) also struggle with training alone. I have tried to find a good group to train with but it has been elusive. I want to feel part of something and have fun! I struggle with The Mental, too. I have a good mojo right now but my brain is always telling me that I am a poser - too fat, too old...

My son is at his Dad's so was able to get out early. Just under 5k done with a nice breeze in my face on the return home.

Re: New Runner :-)

Week 3 of my training plan. 45 minute run this morning.
Decided to try wetting my hat and putting it in the freezer. Worked like a charm.
Another great run!

Re: New Runner :-)

Finished week 1 of my 10k Training plan on Saturday. Was able to get a nice 4.5k run in at 6:30 am before heat & humidity hit. Such a great run! This past week was really the first time that I intentionally planned routes that had hills. I actually RAN up the St.Mark's Hill! Yes I did!! It wasn'...

Cool :-)
It's a great place to live!
If you see a really slow woman running along the Humber it's me...trying to get in just 1 more k!
Next year will be a different story though!

Re: New Runner :-)

I finished C25K on Friday and started a hybrid B210K this morning.
Working more towards running 60 minutes than anything else. I think 60 minutes will put me at approx the 8 k mark.
Slow and steady ;-)

Re: New Runner :-)

Thanks again for all the words of welcome and support! abirdd - Yes, that's exactly the feeling isn't it? I must say that two years ago I was far too self-consious to even run along a path or road. Finally I decided that it really didn't matter what anyone thought. And that more than likely they wer...

Re: New Runner :-)

Thanks La. The family is supportive and encouraging. It's me that's taking time to see the "runner".
I've lost 50 lbs in the last two years with more to go...so it's really a mental transformation along with the health & fitness.
But it's coming...it's definitely coming! :D

Re: New Runner :-)

Thanks! I have the beginning of a thought on doing a 1/2 Marathon next spring. I say beginning because I simply cannot wrap my head around the fact that running has become such a thing for me! I come from a family of marathoners....I always thought the "running gene" missed me! So glad tha...

New Runner :-)

I came across this forum last week and have been enjoying reading all of the different threads. I am a 45 yr old single mom and started running more seriously this past spring. I've run on and off since 2009 and have done three 5ks but always did a walk/run. This year I decided that I wanted to fina...
