"She blames the tipster, Strava, the race director, and the State of California. Anita, you did not bike the entire course and you were caught."

She obviously has a very warped sense of reality. It's pretty scary.

Re: what do you guys think about...

I came along after the great Wolf Island meetup which JoJo organized. I went to meetups in 3 cities, Ottawa twice. Fun times. Because of this, I know most of the people who are here now f2f. I understand about how people like fb and they are on there several times a day anyway and still following p...

Re: what do you guys think about...

All that said, RM (through you) has been a platform that's contributed a lot to my life through the friendships I've made here. I'd venture to say that many people on here wouldn't have accomplished a lot of their athletic success without the people they were inspired by and things they learned fro...

You're right that we have had a great community here and I've made some of my closest friends here-- but I'm just not sure how much effort I pe...

Re: what do you guys think about...

What I find most valuable about this forum right now is the Log section. I'm not using it as extensively as I used to, but I do like that I have a place where I can write about what I'm doing. I like following others that are logging. So combining this group with the meet-up group would likely not a...

Physiotherapy would likely be better. Someone who does more than just give you exercises and walks away, though. Find someone who does a combination of manual therapy, things like ultrasound, TENS, maybe acupuncture, plus the exercises (stretch and strength) for home care.

Welcome here! Side stitches (usually diaphragm spasms) are usually caused by over-exertion-- it's likely that she needs to slow down her pace a bit to go longer distances. Since she's so used to racing and training for the shorter distances, this is hard to get used to at first, but it will work, an...

2. Yuki, the men's leader, was so close behind Des. I noticed when he turned onto Hereford that's where he passed Krista. He passed Sellers (the 2nd place woman) along Boylston. They never even mentioned her name, though they did mention Krista coming in 3rd. It was her 2nd marathon ever, and she's...

I was watching while doing my run on the treadmill-- what an exciting race! So happy for Des Linden-- I was crying watching her finish. Also really happy for Krista-- earlier in the race it didn't seem like she had a chance at the podium, and the announcers were never covering her-- I had no idea sh...

Re: I need a speed work refresher!

She's changing it because of feedback she's received from past participants that they weren't able to pace themselves effectively for a 1-mile interval. Also, increasing by 1 mile every week was too much of an increase. I think we're starting with 6 and increasing to 8 (we only have 3 weeks of spee...

Re: I need a speed work refresher!

The length of intervals and ratio to rest depends so much on what you're training for and what the desired effect is. For example, if someone says "mile repeats" they may be talking about something like 3 x 1 mile with 0.5 mile recovery at 5K pace, or they might mean a marathon workout lik...

When you're ready to buy, I also recommend GPSCity.ca (assuming you are in Canada - I think .com is the US partner site) as their shipping is fast, their prices are competitive, and you can even get older/refurbished models from them if you don't want to drop a lot of $$ on your first watch.
