Re: Running the Tangents: Why Your GPS Thinks Every Race Cou
That article claimed as much as a half-mile long over a marathon due to not hitting the tangents? If the course was a giant circle, you would have to be running on the wrong side of a 420 foot wide road to be a half-mile out. True, but most race courses have more than 360 degrees of combined turns.

There must be a hash house harrier kennel in the vicinity that would have loved to cheer him on.

Most of the month will be spent in taper and reverse taper, with one huge spike of mileage in the middle.

3 hours isn't really that far. It's less time than it takes to run it!

Re: Manitoba Marathon Q's & A's
I definitely won't be running the MM since it's only 1 weeks after an ultra. But I'll be out cheering people on! Bean and I will be on the median waiting for mommy_runner to do her half marathon. I could be convinced to hang out a little while longer and make an "RM corner".

Re: Cadence
I "naturally" have a single-foot cadence of 86 (so 172 for both feet). I had to force myself to run at 90 this morning, and it felt really weird. I suppose it will take a lot of time and practice to get right.

Re: How to Master the Pullup
The training gym I went to (Vertical Adventures, for the Winnipegers here) had a chin-up station where you could clip weights attached to pulleys to assist you if you were unable to do full pull-ups. It helped me out a lot when I started.

Re: Multiple Marathon Sunday
It indeed was a nice day in NYC. I was hoping to break 4:00, but it wasn't meant to be. Finished in 4:09:13. I find it strange being in a race where the day-of transportation before & after the race takes longer than the race itself.

When I rock climbed, I used to do sets with an extra 60lb hanging from my belt. Now, I'd be lucky to do 1 with just my body weight.

Thanks for the words of wisdom everybody! I'm not planning on pushing any individual race hard, just want to finish. I know I'm never going to place in the top half of the field, so just finishing is good enough for me. The race series I've been eyeing is the Gnarly Bandit (Zumbro, Kettle Moraine, B...

Ultra Series
After my experiences at Superior this year, I'm starting to think that I can finish a 100. And not just one, but an entire race series. Obviously, I would have to get in good shape over the winter.
Anybody ever try running multiple 100s in a year? If so, any words of wisdom?

Race over. Licking my wounds.
Good news: I paced my runner to 2nd place in her age category (40th overall, out of 178 starters and 88 finishers).
Bad news: I think I caught buckle fever.
