Re: Future of RM

So far in this thread we've had three people offer to contribute to blogs (Jwolf, avis, and daddy_runner). Are you all still game for that? It doesn't have to be on a strict schedule, whatever you can commit to. For Dale's, maybe what we could do is tweet and discuss what you're already blogging in...

Re: Future of RM

I think the social media thing is great, but I can't help thinking that having a strong presence at races with his signage is a key tactic. Not an easy one, but when people see the community in action, it has a more profound impact. And is we ever do shirts again, having the site address in large p...

Re: Future of RM

ok, we have twitter and instagram. I'm going to give access to the Colls first (eme and IronColl) since they volunteered to start that. I can post from Vancouver. That gives us representation from three provinces. So far in this thread we've had three people offer to contribute to blogs (Jwolf, avis...

Re: Future of RM

One idea I had was that we could have a place on the site (outside the forum) for commonly asked running questions. We often get the reruns of same questions from new runners, or injured runners, or whatever. Someone may come and do a forum search and dig up an old post that went off the rails, or ...

Nike Marathon sub 2 hour marathon attempt

I don't think any of them are capable of running slowly enough to be my pace bunny.

Re: Cycling rocks

Excellent points old friend. Like i said, i don't really read his posts and I've been absent for more than a couple of years, so I'm really in no position to judge. It just seemed harsh to me. Thanks for sharing your perspective. Out of context, I can see why it seems harsh, but it's in response to...

Re: Future of RM

they were waiting for me to do it. I'm setting up accounts now. Then I'll give people access to use them. I'm thinking people in cities across the country so that we can have regional representation. I'm also going to close the extra facebook group (we have two). Link everything up so that whenever ...

Re: Future of RM

When I try to log in with runningmania.com as the username, it says the username doesn't exist. But when I try to create it as a new username, it says it's already taken. :/ Maybe it doesn't like the .com in the username. Will figure this out. I know we already have a twitter account too, I just nee...

Re: Future of RM

I'm trying to start an RM instagram and it won't let me use runningmania.com as a username. Someone already has that name. Is it us or does someone have our name? I suck at instagram so I can't tell lol. Ideas? What should we use instead? Or is it us and I forgot the password from years ago? Maybe I...

Re: Cycling rocks

Don't forget Gary Robbins! He personally hugs every runner who comes across the finish line of his races. Pretty lame thing for an elite.

Re: Cycling rocks

 you guys crack me up. Seriously though, runners do suck. A number of years ago, when I was super broke and my dog had an unexpected vet bill, a bunch of RM people surprised me by covering the bill, overnight, before I even had to pay it. Then there was the time we had events across the country...

Revenge of the Fifth Friday

Since I'm working all weekend I had planned to take today off and do a long run today... that was sabotaged when a bunch of work descended on me for this afternoon. :? So this morning I just did 4 miles instead and will have to figure out another day to do the longer distance. Not feeling terribly w...

Re: The Short Long Thursday

it's sooooooooooooooo gorgeous out today!!!! I really want to get out but I'm torn.... partly because I have a TON of work to do inside, and partly because I am planning a long run tomorrow so I don't want to have tired legs for tomorrow. But it's a shame to sit inside when it's so nice out. So at l...

Re: Running Mules..

eff yeah!!! When I ran a 3:51 at the age of 51, the race gave me a bq plaque and I hung it in my office at work. It was the only plaque so everyone saw it. When I ran 80 miles in 20 hours, the race gave me a certificate and I hung it outside the door of my office so everybody saw it. Some people as...

Re: Running Mules..

- If you don't allow transfers, runners (especially newer ones) are incentivized to register for a sell-out race long before their training would suggest doing so is wise. We all know many, many runners who have registered six months in advance for a marquee race and then got injured trying to quic...

Re: Long term swollen ankle

It'll be two years in August, yeah. I had sprained it pretty badly, and then just when it was healing (about 5 weeks later) I re-sprained it. It has been slightly puffy ever since. I run on it and it's fine now. Clicks once in awhile and it's still puffy, but it doesn't hurt and mobility is fine so ...
