Re: Christmas Baking 2012

We decorated a ginger bread house today, does that count. :D http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/11/25/ahesu3um.jpg Oh, Susan, that is cute! I used to buy the house kit every year we had the girls for Christmas (alternated with Mom and step-dad). I never eat the darn things and they eventually hit the gar...

Re: Running plans for the end of the world?

What's the point of me spending all this $$ on physio, rmt, etc., to get me back to running again... That you have lost your running invincibility is proof enough for me that the world is coming to an end, Andy. Once Toronto freezes over next month, our time is up. Sorry you're injured just now And...

Re: NY Marathon cancelled

I just read a quote from Mary Wittenberg saying that they had to cancel before everyone traveled there tomorrow. Huh? All the international participants are already there or on their way! Obviously didn't think about where people come from to run NYC! She also may not understand people don't want t...

Re: NY Marathon cancelled

In a way it gets the mayor the best of both worlds. The runners, for the most part, are there and stuck now. They will spend the money in town that he said would be such a help.So he gets that part of what he wanted. And he cancels the marathon which gets him the respect from the locals who wanted ...

Re: Crossing the US Border without a passport ...

I've travelled with my daughter a few times and the ONLY time they asked for the notarized consent form signed by her dad, was when I was travelling to the Boston Marathon. Every other time, I pay the $25 for the paper to be notarized but they never ask to see it. My husband and I have paid the fee...

Re: Best post-race food?

The Old Mill Race in Ancaster gets my vote...since it's put on by the restaurant the food is amazing. Lasagna, corn on the cob, caesar salad and homemade ice cream sandwiches for dessert. Yummy! *It's been 9 years since I did this race so it's possible it doesn't exist anymore :( It was a good time...

Re: Best post-race food?

The Hypo Half in Edmonton has THE BEST post race brunch EVER! I've done this run twice and both times the food was amazing. It's held at the Highlands Golf Course Club House and features so many yummy things that I'm bound to miss something. Here's a list of what I remember: eggs benny, bacon, sausa...

Yeah, DStew, my friend really thought I'd be missing my flight home. I can only joke about after the fact as at the time it wasn't all that fun. I really didn't take offense to what happened though. They have their jobs to do and I pushed the line. After the fact the supervisor for the area came ove...

I can't see this happening at the LV airport for sure. Before a friend and I went down to run the half John Stanton bugged my friend to wear her medal through security ... so ... we did ... I got a pat down for the escapade! Then the lady said I could have chosen the new scanner. I replied, "I ...

Ours isn't timed either and is run on New Year's Day. I've always enjoyed myself but it's because I've always run it with friends and had a lot of fun talking the entire 5K. Friends have gotten together on New Year's Eve for the last couple years. We've run through a historical section of town and t...

Re: Resolution Run to ring in 2013

Yes, the jackets are the same across the country, Jenn. Four years ago was a black and red windbreaker type jacket with removable sleeves that my husband and I both love to wear as a vest. Three years ago was a neon green fleece that a lot of people complained about. I wore it for winter runs as an ...
