Re: 2010 in review

2010 started off with pretty low mileage and pretty low exercise levels in general. It was picking up, then one of those life events triggered some extreme weight loss and the need to leave a lot of stress in the woods. 2010 definitely got better as it went on. 8) 5 Peaks Enduro Dundas Valley Apr 2...

Re: Double-Double-Down: Poutine

I am not too proud to say I let my 10 year old niece get that this summer when dowtown. For the record, I did not let her eat ALL of it. http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m272/campbellskidck/poutine.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m272/campbellskidck/poutine1.jpg it was disgusting to look at...

Re: Now to move onto?

I will need to find it or have it sent to me - but if the 5K program starts back with 1:1's and I am on 10:1's - how do I start?

Thank you for any advice.

Re: Haliburton Tracking! :)

Thanks for all the well wishes guys! I've been able to follow the thread, but not post until now. I really felt the support from everyone. Living with this condition for this long, however, teaches you that no matter how much you work towards something or train for something, there is always someth...

Re: Eeek! Input needed for girls running group

All those orange vibes and encouragement did their work! I love how orange vibes always seem to be right there are the right time. It was a humid day to run but we went ahead. The girls had all made race bibs ahead of time. They all said the name of our group and all had the number 1 on them. They a...

Well the first year of the girls running group is almost finsihed. Today is their final run/race and tomorrow is their pot luck. Today the girls will run a 3K route. They have race bibs, decorated by eachother - all have the number one on them and on their backs it will say an inspirting quote to ot...

Re: Eeek! Input needed for girls running group

Yup! We decided to do a 3K event. I am going to see what craft materials are around the school and the parent council might donate some money so we can buy a bunch of beads etc. from the dollar store. I was thinking if each girl/coach made a medal/necklace then we would put them all on a big table a...

Re: clipless vs cages

Clipless all the way! You only have to have one foot clipped in to be able to get up to speed enough to get the other foot clipped in. Also, toe clips (what you're calling cages) only work if you have them tightened around your foot, which makes them even harder to get out of than clipless. And the...

Eeek! Input needed for girls running group

I have started a running group at school for girls in grades 4-6. The person who was going to organize the final event has backed out...and guess who gets to be in charge now? Ya, me. It is going to be a 3,4 or 5K event. We have girls who can run the full 5K and some that need the 3 of 4K to be succ...

Re: We have done this before but...

Thank you for all the links and advice. It has been a week and most of the pain has cleared up except for one spot on the inside of my leg about 1/4 way up from my ankle. It is still fairly tender to the touch. I have been doing a lot of walking and not much running. I will be getting on the ellipti...

Re: We have done this before but...

Shin splints...what has worked best for you? 1: check your shoes. First indication of shoes going beyond their "best before" date (for me) are sore shins 2: toe tapping, writing the alphabet with your feet, ankle circles. Can be done while sitting at your desk, or at home. 3: put a tea to...

Ta-ta tamer review

Ok I figure this may help someone who is too shy to ask...but here is a review of the Lulu 'ta-ta tamer' After putting on quite a bit of weight over the last two years I noticed that 'the girls' are not quite under control while running. My old running bras were uh, um - well worn out. I decided to ...

Re: HCmD's Mississauga Marathon

One of your comments at the start was really key, I think- training for and running this race gives you a great base for Chicago. You had a great result yesterday, but I know with a good summer of tempo runs and solid mileage/long runs you WILL run 3:30 or better. Nice work! I wish I had seen you, ...
