Re: Virtual Workout--THURSDAYS....

Due to a few reasons Jenn and Colleen won't be contributing to this thread for a while. I'd like to keep it going, but I can't do it myself. I was wondering if anyone wants to give me a hand in coming up with workouts? It's been shown in the past that others are contributing, (which we appreciate) ...

Re: Virtual Workout--THURSDAYS....

Good job Lisa!

I just finished as well:

6 min w/u
6 x 4min @ 4:28, 1 min recovery @ approx 6:00-6:10

I finished with a bit of a sprint for the last 45 seconds @ 4:15.

Total was 7.2km in 35 minutes.

Re: Virtual Workout--THURSDAYS....

Just got it done. I did 3km intervals instead of 2mi since the treadmills at work are in metric. 1km w/u @ 6:00 2 x 3km (1.5 @ 4:57 (12.1km/h), 1.5 @ 4:41(12.8km/h)) .5km recovery @ 6:00 in between 1km c/d @ 6:00 In retrospect, I might have been able to go a little bit faster. I was working fairly h...

Re: Virtual Workout--THURSDAYS....

I haven't tried to do these workouts. But yall have inspired me to tweak the tm speeds up a little. Is this a "never ending virtual workout thread" (VW NET) ? Good job! As long as people want to keep posting and doing the workouts, then I guess it is. I hope this keeps going. It's a great...

Re: Virtual Workout--THURSDAYS....

Just got back from doing this one and I really enjoyed it. Starting out I didn't think there was any way I could keep increasing for every interval but it ended up finishing just about right. I was working hard but not overwhelmed. The treadmills at my work gym are in km/h so I increased by .3 for m...

Re: Virtual Workout--THURSDAYS....

There is so much button pushing that no one will realize they are working hard. I think this will help the time to fly by. Thanks Lisa. I like the look of this one too! Adding the incline adds an extra challenge for me since I usually leave it at 0%. Isn't this what they call the "boiling frog...

Re: Virtual Workout--THURSDAYS....

I attempted it this morning but I must have been sleep running because I realized halfway though that I was doing it all wrong. I started out right with the 1min hard/1min less hard but then got stuck in that pattern  6min/1km w/u 1 min 7.2 1 min 6.6 2 min 7.2 2 min 6.6 3 min 7.2 3 min 6.6 4 m...

Re: Virtual Workout--THURSDAYS....

Couldn't haul myself out of bed this morning but I made it to the gym at lunch. Still hacking like crazy on runs but made it through and actually really ended up enjoying this one. 5min w/u 10 min @ 7.0 2 x 5min @ 7.5 2 x 3 min @ 8.0 Cooled down with some stretching afterward. The total was 8k in 41...

Re: Virtual Workout--THURSDAYS....

After a failed attempt last week (abandoned at 2k in because of coughing fits), I got this week's workout done this morning. Since I flamed out on the paces two weeks ago, and my cough is still nagging a bit, I was pretty conservative on the paces but it was still a good workout. I also went with th...

Re: Virtual Workout--THURSDAYS....

I did mine this morning too. Since I haven't really done any speedwork since the spring, I started with the scaled back version of 3 x 8 min. I found it tricky to figure out the right pace. Did the first one at 7.8, had to scale the second one down to 7.6 and did the third at 7.4. Wrong direction :o...

Re: Virtual Workout--THURSDAYS....

I decided to join in to get myself going again. Last workout was before Victoria and I've been slacking since NY. I did a 15 min warmup followed by 8.1 - 9 mph, 3 min recovery, 8.2 - 9.1 mph, 22 min cooldown for 1 hour. Nice one. :) Glad you joined in. There are too many women here! ;) I'm finally ...

Re: Nausea and Vomiting in the Marathon

I've vomited after each of my 4 marathons. My stomach starts to get queasy from about 30km onward keeping me from taking in any more gels or shot bloks and limiting water/gatorade intake. I don't actually vomit until after I cool down for a couple of minutes after the race. I didn't have the same pr...

Congrats on the race and excellent report! Between the logistics of the day and the windy conditions, that's an impressive performance. It really is an amazing experience, isn't it.

Thanks for tracking Jen. I noticed the wind mostly on the bridges as well, especially Verezzano. What a great day and an amazing experience.

Re: New York New York

It is perfect running weather for sure, just borderline too cold to run in shorts (which are more comfortable for me), depending on the sun, wind and how warm it gets by 10:30. Definitely a minor issue though.

Re: New York New York

The forecast is calling for cooler weather now. Hope it stays warm enough for shorts. It's getting borderline now (high of 8-10C, depending on which site you check).

Re: Run to work - and back Friday

I did a double take when I saw the subject header - how did you know? Round-trip run commute for me today too, something I've been wanting to try for a while. Since I live 21km from work I did a one-way trip yesterday to combine with the round trip today to make my own Goofy challenge. I took ...

Re: Brookvale PEI Ultra Trail Run 2011

Feels weird to resurrect a thread with 2011 in the title but this race probably doesn't need another thread. I ended up running the 50k race last month. Great race. Tough, but I loved it. I still haven't got around to finishing writing my race report but I did find a couple of others: http://running...

Re: ORW for NMG . . .

Glad you were able to come to a happy place with your result - the conditions at this race are always a wild card, and it's so frustrating to put months into training for a less than perfect day. Congrats on your race! +1 ORW is a tough race for that. It always seems to be one of the first warm wee...
