Mouse losing friend/clearing another hurdle!

Postby Mouse » Mon Jun 16, 2008 6:21 pm

Well Maniac's for those of you who wished me good luck, starting with Bellboy last night at the BBQ. I'm excited, and happy to report that the power of orange has worked again. TODAY at the nutritionist I was told that I can lose my DAMM friend the feeding tube. Yes folks that is correct, you read it here first.... Now I just have to wait for the appointment date. Hopfully it won't be long. The other great news is the thrid appointment of the day at Cancer Care, had me coming away with the Doctor is going to get me an appointment with a GI Specialist to get the acid reflux under control. I think we can certainly call this a BANNER DAY!!!!!! Woo Hoo...... Yay... Yippie kie aye.......

I have been eating. I had made a deal with the Nutritionist that if I maintained my weight between 115-120 could I get rid of the feeding tube. I packed away a lot of desserts last night at the post race BBQ. I also had drank a lot of water over the past three days to make sure I wasn't dehydrated from throwing up on Thrusday. I think some of the extra weight today might have been water retention. I also had on a baggy sweatshirt so she couldn't see my belly full of water. I also made sure that I didn't go to the bathroom till after I was weighed. Yes I was determined that I was going to lose the feeding tube. I had a note book with everything that I had put in my mouth from June 1st onward, as well as my weight for each day. My lowest was 14.8, with my highest being 118.2. I told her she had to explain to me why I should stay on the feeding tube. She had also told me at my last appointment to cut back by one can a day.(from 3 to 2). I don't follow directions very well, being a runner who has listened to her body, I knew I didn't need that darn liquid, if I could get enought food in me. It was something that I had to work at, but I was determined....... Hence the comment another hurdle cleared....
I've been eatingsoft foods for quite a while now. Things like rice, scrambled eggs, egg salsd sandwiches, lots of fruit, I even ate a muffin carrot at the Marathon brunch.
