January 2013

Postby La » Thu Jan 31, 2013 8:31 pm

I can't see where anyone started a "January 2013" goals/plans thread, and today is January 31!

I think my only goal was to run more than I did in December, and I did that! 90K in December (10 runs) and 113K in January (13 runs). I hope to be closer to 125K in February, but with fewer runs since it's a shorter month.

I'll share this month, I'm proud of myself. 440km this month averaging 4:23 pace per km, that is a new monthly total for me by about 50k.
I ran everyday, longest run was 22k so nothing too crazy that way. This was the plan for ramping up to ATB, however I didn't think I would be this high. Next month more of the same, with more speed workouts (1k-2k intervals), race pace runs and longer runs up to 2hours long.

I stopped logging by distance so I don't know how many kilometres, but I ran consistently 4-5 days/week. Plus I've been swimming 3 days/week since January 16.

Life is good.

20 runs, 354K. This is basically what I had in September and that was good enough for sub-3 in October, so here's hoping for something similar in February.

262 km for me. I missed about a week of running because I was sick so I fell short of my intended target.

290K which I'm truly happy with! Most of it has been on the slow side however, as I began leading my clinic this month. I'm trying to work some more tempo runs back in to the Sched for Feb, as I try to not embarass myself at ATB this year

Also quite a bit of elliptical, rowing and spin bike (at least 1-2 times/week)

Holy cow - there are some big totals posted!

Great month for me too - it's been a long time since I've paid attention to my monthly mileage! 239 miles (385k); mostly easy runs w/ some tempos & MP. Legs are responding well. And I'm thrilled to have a marathon on the horizon.

Because I'm increasing the miles, I dropped Crossfit but added some yoga to the routine. It's a nice balance, so far :).
We train more joyfully and productively when we focus on the now, rather than on our future race day performance. It's a long road from here to there with many miles to go. We need to run each one. Accept where you are today and simply be thankful for the work you've accomplished. KA

I am almost embarrassed to post here with some of the numbers above.

However, my goal was to get back into running after doing two HM in 2011 and doing nothing but gaining weight in 2012. My other goal was to go from obese to overweight on the BMI scale.

Both missions accomplished.

15 runs for a "grand" total of 66km.

I'm working on becoming - and feeling like - a runner again, with more than just a weekly longish-to-long trail run, so I had my highest mileage since last May.

142km of running.
5 hours of indoor ultimate (3 games)
6.5 hours of snowshoeing (3 outings)
15-30 pushups every day or two.

Huh. When I write it out like that, I don't feel quite as lazy as I thought I was (as long as I don't look up in this thread at all the people doing 300+ and 400+ kms! :) )

Ha... I'm not ashamed. I'm just commenting on how I've been feeling over the past many months.
And I actually read your "113K" and thought, "Yeah, plus, what, 25 spin classes and 4,000 squats?!"

I came in at 194km. Would have been higher, but I missed a full week of training because I had laser eye surgery!

Should be around 250 or so in Feb.

Great job this month! Impressive totals for a hard month for training!

213 km for me this month - plus 4 swims, 1 ski and 2 snowshoe outings. The weather here has been tough for all of those activities, with the constant jumping around from snow to rain to freezing cold temps.

Running: 23 runs totaling 184.67 km, against a plan of 168 km. Cool!
4tFire: 4/5 classes. Not too shabby.
Yoga: 4/4 classes. Yay!

And to top it off, lost 6 lbs. Pretty dang good start to the year, says I. :D
Plan for 2016:
Jun 25: St. Malo Triathlon - Sprint - done
Jul 16: Morden Triathlon - Sprint - done
