can't remember :(

Postby KaTyBrown » Wed Jul 08, 2009 7:59 am

How to figure out my speed in walking. Today did 3.03km in 38minutes or 1.91 miles - not fast I know but I am taking it easy don't want to re-injure the heel.

Can someone, somewhere in RMland help me out here.

Thks

38 minutes is .6333 hours, so if you take the 3.03 km and divide it by .6333 you'll get the km/h - 4.78 km/h is what I got. Divide that by 1.60934 gets you the mph - 2.97 mph by my calculations. (I actually had you at 1.88 miles, could be I'm just using more decimal points).

Cheers! :D

Karen,
this calculator might help you figure out your next walk...

Walk, Jog Or Run Pace Calculator
http://www.csgnetwork.com/runracepacecalc.html

You enter your distance in km or miles, and your time
(3.03 km / 38 minutes)
and it gives you the following...

Pace Per Mile 20:11 min/mi
Pace Per Kilometer 12:32 min/km
Calculated Pace 2.97 Miles Per Hour
Calculated Pace 4.79 Kilometers Per Hour
Calculated Pace 1.33 Meters Per Second

Here's hoping for continued improvement for your heel.
Congrats on getting back out there.

PS: there are lots of pace calculators online.
If you don't like the one above,
(or if you can't find DT to do the math for you)
here's another...

(edited to add missing decimal point on metres per second. Thanks CAW.)

Neither we calculators in my day. It was either a piece of paper and a pencil or a slide rule. When calculators first came out you had to sit near an electrical outlet because they had to be plugged in and they weren't permitted at tests or exams because not everyone could afford one.
