Minimalist Shoes for Half Marathons

Postby tayken » Tue Oct 18, 2016 12:58 pm

Hi folks,

Just wondering what type / which light weight shoes you wear for half marathons if at all? Obviously, not carrying that extra weight helps

I ran in Asics Hyperspeed 5's in 2013. I currently run in Hyperspeed 6's. They have just enough cushioning for me without a big heel-toe drop and are light weight.

I did a few using NB minimus I think they were called (that was a few years back), nut sure if they are still making them.

I bought a pair a year ago so at least they were making them a year ago (I assume they still are).

But I wouldn't do that distance on pavement in them. No cushioning on pavement = pain.

I don't think they'd qualify as minimalist, but I've been using New Balance Vazee Paces for my races over the past couple of years (5Ks, 10Ks and most recently a half). They are definitely lighter and more responsive than my regular trainers and I just love them.
