Diana Nyad finishes her epic Cuba to Florida swim

I don't think Diana Nyad swam from Cuba to Florida because it had sharks and box jellyfish. She swam it because of the challenge to her. The sharks and jellyfish were a byproduct that I'm sure she would have loved to not have had to deal with. RE: protective gear: I wear a helmet when I bike to protect myself. I wear running shoes when I run to protect my feet. Geez I even use body glide to protect my nipples! That doesn't have an impact on my accomplishment or puts me as a risk-taker. I'm sure for every person who thinks back and says "I wish I hadn't done that when I was younger" there is someone saying "I wish I had done that when I was younger." Of course there are some people who do extremely risky things, things that I would call stupid, but I think that is who they are. It's not my call to tell other people how to live their life.
