Good Restaurants in Saskatoon?

Postby marymac442 » Fri Oct 18, 2013 8:40 am

One of my running mates is going to be working in Saskatoon for a week or so and is looking for restaurant recommendations.

Do we have any Saskatoon maniacs who can make some suggestions.

If they want burgers, Fuddruckers.

That is all we have found so far (my sister and BIL moved there last year), but if I hear more I will let you know. If they end up in Regina, the Bushwakker is awesome (good food, large beer selection).

My god daughter's sister works at a restaurant in Saskatoon...I think it's a Brazillian one.
I'll message her via FB later today (FB is blocked at the office) and get back to you.

Carvers at the Sheraton downtown.

It was ok. Just a little strip of food down the middle of the plate.

Carvers is nice but very expensive. The Brazilian joint is Saboroso, I haven't been myself but friends say it is good. Below are all places I recommend:

For foodies:
Weczeria on Broadway
Calories on Broadway
St. Tropez Grill on 2nd
Truffles on 21st

"Fine dining":
Carvers
Mr. Rizos on Idylwyld

Steak, prime rib,etc:
The Granary on 8th
2nd Ave Grill
The Keg, Moxies, Earls - chains but usually good. Earls has a great deck

Ethnic:
Los Palapos (Mexican) on 11th St
La Bamba (Mexican) on Boychuk
Bon Temps Cafe (Cajun) on 2nd Ave
Yip Hong (Chinese) on 8th St - note, Dim Sum only, supper not so good
Red Pepper, Thien, Saigon Rose, Saskatoon Asian, Lien Tanh - all downtown area Vietnamese/Thai, all good

Pub food:
Yard & Flagon on Broadway
Amigos on 10th, just off Broadway
Rook & Raven on 2nd Ave
O'Shea's on 2nd Ave
Spadina Free House

Haven't heard of Konga, will have to check it out. My sister goes to Taunte Maria's all the time with her "Perogie Club" girlfriends.

Amigo's is also one of the best places in town for live music, if you are into alternative bands. It's a restaurant until 9 or so and then it turns into a club.

Thanks for all the recommendations.

I am sure I will get to see a number of facebook photo's from the selected restaurants over the next while.

It's tiny. Run by a guy and his Jamaican wife. The food is delicious, but don't be in a hurry :) drinks are awesome too - legitimate Dark N Stormy, Ginger Beer and Painkillers.

So my friend did her first work stint in Saskatoon. They were staying downtown with no car so could only try the restaurants close by.

Her favorite was Bon Temp, she would/will definitely eat there again. Red Pepper was good Thai but she say Thien Vietnam should NOT be on the recommended list so either she went to a different one, they were having a bad day or it's gone downhill.

She is hoping her next work stint there she will be able to get to Taunte Marie's (she's a good Winnipeg girl who loves her perogies)

And by the way, this girl has an appetite like you would not believe. She’s relatively small, but man can she pack it in!

Still like The Granary after many years.
The Station Place was good last May, didn't go there this year.
