September goals

Two more long runs and then taper and avoid an injury.

279.84 kilometers is the goal this month = 1,000 miles of training for the marathon.

looking for 120 miles this month, including a couple of good long runs. I haven't been beyond 18 miles yet this year, so I'd like to do a few 18-22 mile runs.

And more mtb!

I have a race on September 23 - it's a half-of-a-half (done as a relay). I've never done a 10.55K race, so I have no idea what to expect.

Between now and then I hope to maintain four runs per week (Tues, Wed, Fri, Sun) with mileage around 28-32 kpw. I'm also doing 2 strength workouts per week and my goal is to maintain that.

I'm looking forward to getting into the regular fall routine again. I've fallen off the strength-training again, and need to figure out how to get myself back on that.

Otherwise I'd like to continue to gradually build back my running, mixing in cycling in there too. I like how cycling warm-ups seem to help my running. I will aim for 4-5 days of running per week.

September will be focussing on building up for NYC Marathon while also involving several races on the schedule, and will be keeping the effort to goal marathon pace, or bit faster ... Such the case, should be somewhere between 275K to 325K ...

Unfortunately, resistance training appears to have fallen off the radar, though will attempt to include some sort of cross training activity on the schedule, when possible ... :? :shifty:

Build up my long runs to get ready for the Waterfront Half in October, that's the main thing. Along the way, I've got the Oasis Zoo 10k, but given how hilly the zoo is, I'll settle for 'have fun' on that one.

I didn't specify any goals for September, but I had one of my biggest months ever!

414K with a variety of paces and distances. For the most part I was able to keep within my McMillan paces for a 4 hour or slightly faster marathon.

Now 2 more weeks of taper, so October will be a low month overall.

20 runs, 363K. This is basically as high as things have gotten for me since the injuries rolled in last spring and I am cautiously optimistic that I can fake a decent marathon or two this fall.

I got more mileage done this month but pushed it a bit too much against this injury recovery. So I didn't really get to where I thought I'd be and maybe went backward a bit. But it was a stressful month and things will settle down starting this week. I hope I can proceed a bit more gently through October.

Edit: I just added everything up and was at 125K running and about 6.5 hours cycling for the month.

Race - done
Mileage - 100K (but I think I'll head out for a short run before dinner)
Strength - didn't keep that up

ETA: I ran 7.3K, for a total monthly distance of 108K.

284.4 kilometers this month, 1,000 miles since May 27, 2012 and no injury to speak of. Some aches and pains but the final week of taper will likely take care of that.

Sounds like you are positioned to have a great race next Sunday, dstew!

292 km this past month, no injuries, hit all the runs in my plan save 1 short one. Very happy with that.

Looking towards October, I've got about 20 km of training planned and a 42.2 km long run next Sunday. After that, who knows?

well this didn't happen. I was sick for much of September. :/ Ended up with 54 miles (87km). Hopefully October will be better!

Had a good month of running logging 361 km for September. The only thing that's left is the anticipation and excitement in the next week. Looking forward to next weekend.

Month started off with good potential and ended with a bit of a fizzle, while recovering from a funky right foot and hit with a flu bug the final week of the month .... :?

With only 5 weeks left before NYC Marathon, and nursing my foot and health back, will probably have to rethink my goals for NYC now ....

Monthly Summary:

Thanks to a couple of fun weekends and a brief flu? bug, I missed a few runs this month - managed 207km out of planned 230. Achilles and calves still being a bit cranky, they are ok with marathon pace running, my recreation on the weekends seemed to bother as much as the running did.

332K this month. I missed a couple of runs at the beginning of the month due to camping at a paddle in spot where there was nowhere to run. Feeling good, so things are looking promising for a good fall racing season!

Only 135 km for me in September because I sprained my ankle 3 weeks ago. Fortunately I have recovered quickly and able to run again so I should be able to run Toronto Waterfront.

126.5 for me in September - not much by most people's standards, but a new high for me! :D My main goal this month was to get my long runs up for the Waterfront Half, and I managed 19, 18.5, and 20, so I'm pleased with that.
