November 2012

Postby purdy65 » Wed Oct 31, 2012 7:45 am

I have absolutely NO plan. I head to Maui on the 10th, and after a double check of the resort we are staying out, I realized I booked a place without a treadmill! Hmmm... Guess that means beach running   .

I may do the Whitby 10 Miler at the end of November - in fact I'm leaning heavily towards it.

I need to solidify my plans. I've got the Tannenbaum 10k coming up the first weekend in December, so whatever will get me ready for that will be the November agenda.
PR's so far: 5K 27:15, 10K 55:25, 21.1K 2:10:53, 42.2K 5:21:27
Upcoming: Toronto Women's 5k in May, STWM Half in October

Hawaii is glorious for running outside. :) You won't miss the treadmill.

treadmill and Hawaii shouldn't be in the same sentence!! :)

I haven't participated in one of these threads in ages - but, I'm trying really hard to participate more in the running parts of this so-called "running" forum! :)

November sees me re-starting (sort of) the half marathon training program (well at week 7 or 8!) - and getting 2 CrossFit(tm) workouts in a week.

I'm gearing up for the Disney Half in January.....with no other races planned between now and then. :)

Running has been put on "HOLD" indefinitely, while I recover from my lower body issues ... Will be lots of crosstraining both at the Club and at home with easy spinning to keep the endorphin rush, and avoiding gaining too much weight ... :? :shifty:

November goal : don't gain 10 pounds
... and hopefully start running again.

Only 2 months remaining to meet those pesky 2012 goals from that other thread, and there is plenty of work to be done!

Goals:
-increase my mileages base
-cut back (a little) on Crossfit from 5 days/week to 3.
-mentally prepare for the long long runs. (likely in the cold).

I am contemplating getting a Rec Centre pass for November to pressure me into doing regular swimming. Staying motivated with running will be difficult on cold, wet, dark evenings.

My main November goal is to run a marathon in which the 2nd half is not ridiculously slower than the first half.
Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.

Training for the Egg Nog Jog begins this weekend which, for me, means adding in a lot of hill training. Goal is to always beat my previous years time.
Other than that, hopefully add in more weight training and keep up with the spin classes to help get me "bike fit" for next spring.

Try to get back into the swing of running again after my long post-marathon break. Hopefully 3 times/week but realistically with the winter schedule 2 times/week.

I should make it to Sudbury by December 1, if all goes well.

I just want to stay in form for the final half marathon of the year the Las Vegas RnR. I am going to try to do more of my running outside this winter. My knee has been bugging me and once it snows, I tend to run on my forefoot which seems to settle it down.

I never posted what my plans were for November. Since it was my first month back after taking the entire month of October off (and having surgery), my goal was to just get back into a routine, and I certainly accomplished that!

I've run 9 times so far this month (heading to the gym at lunch to make it an even 10) and so far have a monthly mileage of 70K (will be 75K after my run today).

I've also done lots of cross training: mostly walking to/from work, but I also got back to spinning.

I'm very happy with how November turned out. :D

A nice relaxing non-training month for me, which included lower milage than usual because of my week in Hawaii. I did run there 3 days, but they were short ones.

I did manage to get a couple of tempoish runs in, but nothing like I usually do during training. Also back to some elliptical/spin bike/strength work. That also contributed to my lower milage.

I've also gone out with the Running Room groups several times, and will continue this into December - before I begin my gig as Clinic Instructor for the GoodLife Half marathon clinic. Nervous and excited.

Still! 203K for the month!

I did ok with running in November, only a couple of whimp out because of rain or "I don't wanna's".

Less successful with the swimming, bought the monthly Rec pass but only managed to drag my butt out of bed to swim about once a week so wasted about half my money.

November was a great month for me. Injury is now a thing of the past and I am running 5 x/week. Mileage was 127 and my first 10K race in 19 months felt good.
All systems are go for a half in February.

Onwards.

Not a great month for me. I did run about 100k (haven't added it up completely yet) but the injury started nagging me at the end. I'm hoping it was just a minor setback and next month will be running happy again.

Haven't run a step since then (other than having to pick up the pace once when jaywalking to avoid getting run over).

20 runs, 284K. That's more than enough to maintain current fitness and sanity.
