MEC Racing Series

Postby Nicholas » Mon Mar 17, 2014 12:12 pm

I just posted the following link in our Resources/Links List/Event Calendar for the MEC Event Calendar. If you are looking for a good, cheap race...you can follow the link and click on the various event filters on the left to find out what is happening. The races in the MEC Race series are only $15 to enter but the calendar does list other events and some of them are listed as Free. That is not true. You'll have to go to each race site to get the entry fee schedule.

I've been looking at these for a while but haven't been able to make one work yet. Definitely want to though, they look great.

This link from their home page just gets their own races:

$15 is definitely great value, did one last year, was duly impressed. Included chip timing!

I really like that they include the somewhat overlooked 15km distance.

Man, a marathon on the roads in Gatineau Park! That will be a big time challenge.

I really like that they often include the 15k distance too.

I don't think there are any marathons here.

So I suppose that would that qualify as a "hilly" course? LOL

Oh wow, that's awesome!!! I was considering doing Bread and Honey on probably the same day as race 2... and $15 fits in the mat leave budget quite a lot better. Something to think about for sure! And come to think of it... I might consider doing the 5K for the first one.

there's one, in Steveston:

Not sure about the route since the map only shows a 10k length, so maybe you have to repeat it. :/

Oh cool- that's new.

The half marathon was from Garry Point Park to the Oval and back. I assume the marathon is twice out and back. I could do that.

I've signed up for my first ever trail running race: I'll be doing the 3K at Camp Fortune in early July as part of the MEC race series. Very excited about this beginner-friendly distance!
