Re: Midsummer's Mess 15K
Congratulations on an excellent time!! I finished this race a few min behind you so will add my $0.02 Generally I had a great time, really liked running on the island and had minimal problems with non-runners on the course. When I got off the ferry I must have been one of the fortunate ones because ...

Re: Race day Sunday
I completed my first ever marathon in Ottawa this past weekend. What a great race, good weather, varied course and fantastic crowd support. Had a good strong even pace up to about 33 km when the leg fatigue started to intensify and slowed a bit through Rockcliffe but still managed a good strong fini...

Re: 2013 Around The Bay
This was my first ATB and I had a great time. :D Corrals seem to work fine and the temps seem to be a bit better than I anticipated especially when the sun was out. Managed a good strong respectable pace but those hills after 20K were a real challenge. I crossed over the train tracks just as the sig...

Re: ATB Training Option?
Thank you to everybody for your great advice. Your comments seem very resonable. After considering this I have decided to go for it!! I am now registered in my very first ATB. I also decided to register for the marathon clinic to help me along. :D My primary goal will be "to finish" at a p...

Re: 2012 - the year that was...
I had a pretty good running year in 2012, some highlights: 1) Achieved 3 new personal bests in the 5K(22:53), Sporting LIfe 10K(45:35) and the Scotiabank Waterfront Half Marathon (1:47:37). 2) Blew way past my original year goal of 1200 km to finish 2012 at 1732km. 3) Ran a couple of fun 5K runs thi...

Re: Does anyone here use GarminConnect?
I don't seem to be having issues. I am using a wireless connection to my Garmin now so occasionally the feed fails for some reason but it usually just retries and then it is fine. Seems to send the data to Garmin Connect with no issues.

ATB Training Option?
I have been considering the Around the Bay race but I am unsure if I have time to prepare for it. I contacted my local running room and they have a marathon clinic starting on Jan 8th which I have told their 30K LSD would coincide with the race date which I was told I could just run rather than race...
