Re: Vegetarian vs. non vegetarian
I wasn't planning on going from being a vegetarian to eating meat 5 times a week. More along the lines of: when we BBQ, I'm not going to bother with veggie burgers and, when meat smells good, just eat it (my mother in law makes a killer roast, apparently. It smells delicious). Hey, for all I know, I...

Re: Phone apps vs. GPS watches
I downloaded Runkeeper as I forgot my watch at home and took a run on my way home. It ate through the last 64% of my iPhone 5 Battery on a 7K run. Are there settings I need to change? You can turn off the phone while running. The app will run in the background. On a 3.5k run, I used about 10-12% ba...

Vegetarian vs. non vegetarian
So, I've been a vegetarian for about 20+ years now. My main reason was when I was around 10 years old, I saw a guy on TV stabbing a pig that was hanging on a tree, and all the guts just splashed out. I was disgusted, and told my mom never to eat meat again. That's how it started. Then, as I grew old...

Re: Phone apps vs. GPS watches
I'm always running with my Runkeeper app on my phone, mostly because I listen to music while I run. You can set Runkeeper so it notifies you in your headphones of your pace, distance, average speed etc. every X minutes/meters. I have it set for a notification every kilometer that tells me the pace ...

Re: Phone apps vs. GPS watches
I tested my iPhone vs. my Blackberry vs my 305 a few times on courses up to 10 km and they were always within the margin of error. I used my iPhone for about a year because i was thinking "I'm carrying it anyway". I've now switched back to the 305 because I find (because of how I train) I...

Re: Summit Run - Prince Albert, SK, June 15th.
Whoops, sorry. Where does it belong, then, "The scenic route?". General running discussion or possible Event Reviews, unless you are writing a race report in which case Race/Run Reports. General running probably gets it the most visibility. Right. Thanks. I'll remember for next time. Ther...

Re: Tuesday...
Back from my 3.64km run. Note to self: Don't run after a buttery supper. That hurts.

Re: Tuesday...
I'm getting ready for a short run, although I think I might regret it so quick after supper.

Re: Stretching- good or bad?
I lightly stretch my calves before my run and quads after. It's more a habit that I got into from playing basketball. I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't feel a difference if I stopped stretching..

Re: Winter Trail Running
Wow. You're a maniac!
Seriously though, what was the temperature at that time? How do you handle the snow on your legs? Don't you get cold/wet feet?
