I would like to thank all of the volunteers who came forward to help me to complete my research. Because of your great response, I now have to go back to the Red Deer Runners to throw out a challenge to even out the groups.

I have no comment on the chicken... but I would like to thank all of the volunteers who came forward. Because of your great response, I now have to go back to the Red Deer Runners to throw out a challenge to even out the groups.

Re: Participate in a discussion on experiences with injuries
Okay, let's make it a competition ! I'm looking to match the number of participants that I have recruited from the face-to-face group, The Red Deer Runners. Right now I need five more Running Mania members. Any takers? Again, you don't have to have had a lot of experiences with serious injury to joi...

Re: Participate in a discussion on injuries and self-care
Thanks for your participation. I have had several volunteers, but could always use more. I just wanted to clarify that all sorts of experience is relevant. Even those who've spent time managing minor injuries or health uncertainties are welcome to participate.

Participate in a discussion on injuries and self-care
I am a PhD researcher (and a runner) studying how people access and use various forms of expertise in managing uncertainties surrounding their own health. I have been analyzing the injury forum in order to understand how people participate in practices of self-care. Right now, I am looking for parti...

Participate in a discussion on experiences with injuries
Hi all. I’m back again and this time I’m looking for volunteers. As I mentioned in a previous post, I am a PhD researcher studying how people access and use various forms of expertise in managing uncertainties surrounding their own health. I am observing, recording and reporting comments posted publ...

Re: purple toe nail
This used to happen to me all the time. Other people used to take pictures of my toe because it was so gross. In my case, my big toe was coming under my second toe, forcing the second toe into the top of the shoe. I had some success with using those silicon toe spacers between my big toe and my seco...

Re: Injuries and self-care research
You've touched on a really important point in terms of multiple forms of expertise, even within the medical community (doctors, athletic therapists, physios, chiropractors, etc.). One of the things that sites like this do is allow people to share and to negotiate what we hear from experts (in this c...

Injuries and self-care research
Hi everyone. I am a PhD student at the University of Calgary and an active runner. My research involves looking at self-care practices and the interplay between expert and lay medical knowledge. I am most interested in the exchange of knowledge that occurs in online forums like yours where everyone ...
