I'd have stopped running that night I felt my calf begin to pull three weeks before the MCM; a little rest then might have gotten me a better taper.
I'd have started slower at the MCM, and followed my race plan.

Aside from those, no regrets - that's how we learn and get better, right?

Donald, the sweet is never as sweet without the sour. Life is ups and downs; if it wasn't what would be the point? If fate dealt you a mostly down 2007, the 2008 might well be the year of ups.

Best wishes, and merry Christmas.

I've had it with these running purists who think that anything outside of THEIR philosophy is demeaning to the sport and belittles their efforts.... I understand some run without music...fine...I can accept that..it doesn't bother me...at ALL.. But when they come out and voice their oppinions on ho...

Interesting thread and appropriate to me as my legs were what gave out first during my marathon. This is Pat's quote that I picked up on recently:(on cross-training) The downside of that is that you can then place demands on your legs that your cardiovascular system can support but the tissues of yo...

A finish is a finish Carla, you did well on a tough day and after having to deal with illness a couple of days before the race. You toughed it out and completed the race. That makes you a repeat marathoner! Well done and congrats!

My MCM

The MCM, 2007 from my perspective. What a blast! I really enjoyed the whole experience and learned a lot about myself, the race and what I am and am not capable of. The short version; Chip Time: 4:50:41 and a lot of fun. The Lessons 1. A Marathon is a long race. I certainly underestimated what the ...
