They were cotton. I wasn't going very far so didn't feel like I needed tech fabric! Very comfy.

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

The Liz Lange tank tops from Target were what I ran in, and they were $10 each I think (albeit at Target in the US). They were great and I still wear them sometimes for lounging around! Who knows Jesse, you may be able to run right up to the end!! I had to stop very suddenly one day (seriously the d...

Re: Toronto: Indoor Track Meet this Saturday (Feb 22)

They do for sure. The ON masters site says the twilight meets are on Tuesdays, and the championships are July 12-13, so the twilight meets will be sometime before that. Pat figures May. I'm thinking seriously about it... if you get the ON masters membership ($50) the races are very inexpensive. Plus...

Cool!! Good for you. Can I convince you to try some masters events with me this summer? The atmosphere is super positive and fun.

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

If you google "postpartum ab workout" a few come up. I have one on the computer- I'll link to it a bit later. I have an app called Fit Woman that I use- it generates a different core workout each time. You can get it to make upper body, lower, or overall workouts too. I try to do it after ...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

And yes, going with the flow helps in many ways. Every day is different, every baby is different, and every mom is different! Depending on your personality type, though, you don't have to resign yourself to COMPLETELY going with the flow and having zero predictability in your (or your baby's) day. I...

Re: Saturday at the Track

Crazy windy today, but it was a beautiful one for sure. I went pretty much straight north/south into a nearby conservation area, for about 12.5km. I'm not sure if it was the wind or the splitting headache I have been nursing all day, but I was slooooow! Oh well. I've been quite happy with my shorter...

Re: Attn: GTA (male) runners

My best friend participated in a cardiac study at U of T. She got a ton of fitness testing done, which was really cool- she had to ask and sort of dig to get her VO2 max numbers though, so make sure you get them!! That'll be really cool data to have. They made her run around the track at U of T for ...

Too much snow Tuesday

Seriously. This is ENOUGH, Mother Nature!!!! She owes us a seriously hot and sunny summer.

I do hope to get out for a short run today, but I'll be waiting for the plows to come by!!

Re: Restful Saturday

I drove into TO to run with some great friends, including JB and Mr. and Mrs. Joggler. Always worth the drive! We did a tough (for me) 11km- we went out at a pace that's been fine for 5 or 6km for me, but as the run went on it got increasingly less fine, haha. Plus there were a couple big hills towa...

Re: Wednesday's Start

I did just over 10K today... it felt FAR! LOL. My legs were tired from my crazy 3-ish km's of tempo yesterday, hehe. Or maybe because this is the 4th day in a row, I think, that I've run. Oh well! I'm glad to have gotten it done. It's nice to see the sun today!

Own the Podium Tuesday

Jesse, I am so amazed... Butterfly seems ridiculously hard to start with, let alone pregnant!! Good job!! I ran just over 6km today- just under 3 at 5:28 to warm up and 3.4 at 4:35! Woohoo! I was pleasantly surprised to see I had gone that fast and it was one good example of a time when if I had a g...

Re: Beatles Sunday thread

Aw that's too bad ngcaper. :( I had a similar experience- not a flare up, but a "warning" flare up. I was going to do 14km today, and I shut it down at 11 when my knees started to complain a bit. The footing was getting really slippy, and the rest of my run was downhill, so I knew it would...

Re: Why don't female marathoners go for records like men?

Pat and I have had many debates over this, haha... I think as long as the person going for the record (male OR female) isn't drafting off the pacer, it shouldn't matter if they're male or female.

I love itsmyrun. It keeps track of distance, pace, laps, feeling on the run, and shoes worn, which I love. You can upload garmin data, which I've never done, and you can keep track of things like weather too, which I haven't done. I love that I have info on there from several years of running! Robbi...

Re: Yet another frosty Friday

I had a good run today! 7km in a kind of progression, at least when I turned around I made a concerted effort to go just a bit faster than I had been. My run home was at 5:06 pace (YAY!) and my overall was 5:15... new fastest pace since spring! Woohoo!! I did 2 strides afterward too, which were fun....

Why don't female marathoners go for records like men?

THAT makes a lot of sense. I remember that rule change. I remember there was a lot of controversy around it, and at the time I thought it was a bad idea. I still think it's a bad idea, and I think you're right- a lot of this stagnation probably comes straight from that. I can't remember though- did ...

Why don't female marathoners go for records like men?

Interesting. Is the FFTF strategy the one Radcliffe used? I can't remember if she was out front the whole time. Definitely risky but it seems men have a more ingrained desire to want to be THE BEST. Here's a link to various world record times/distances . The most recent women's record looks to be fr...

Re: Why don't female marathoners go for records like men?

Aren't there bonuses for WR's at marathons, though? One would think IF (it's a big if) she didn't blow up, if a runner didn't get the WR she would be in strong contention (or miles ahead) for a win anyway.

Re: Blah Thursday

Blah is right!! I did just over 20 minutes- I was super frustrated and cut it short. I made the mistake of running by 3 schools around dismissal time- I couldn't run on the road safely, and there is so much snow that the sidewalks are like tunnels! When there were people in front of me (LOTS of peop...
