Thanks for the feedback. Would you recommend investing in a pair of trail running shoes if I try this out to see how I like it?

5 Peaks - Camp Fortune

Is anyone else doing this race in August? I am contemplating signing up for this one. I am currently training for the army half marathon in Sept but do not have anything planned for August yet. I am somewhat familiar with Camp Fortune because my wife and I ski there regularly in the winter but I hav...

I had two beer. We had planned to do some shopping in Syracuse before returning home so we did not stay at the after party for too long.

I ran 15km in 1:10 and had two beer all before 10:00. I figure that makes for a good day :)

Boilermaker

Yesterday I ran the Boilermaker 15km race in Utica NY. For anyone who has not been, I would definitely recommend this race. My day got off to an early start as my wife dropped me off at the start line around 6:20 as we attempted to beat the last minute rush of runners arriving and to give her enough...

I figure I should be able to finish the race in about 1:10-1:15.

Thanks for the tips. I was not sure what to expect down there.

Utica Boilermaker

I will be running the Boilermaker 15km race in Utica next month. My wife will be travelling with me but she is not running the race. I was hoping that someone who has done this race before would be able to suggest a good post race meeting point. Will my wife be able to get close to the finish line? ...

Thanks. I know that course pretty well now after doing the marathon and several of my training runs along there along the way. I am looking forward to it.

I am running the army 1/2 as well. Does anyone know what the route is? I missed the run last year.

Thanks for all the feedback. I agree that training for race weekend in Ottawa can be tough due to the weather. It often ends up being one of the first really warm weekends of the year. It was pretty cool out when I did my last two long Sunday runs leading up to the marathon. I never thought of tryin...

My NCM experience

Sunday was my first marathon experience. Based on my training I was hoping to finish the race somewhere between 3:30 and 3:45. In staying consistent with my approach to my longer training runs, my strategy was to drink Gatorade at water stations except for when I was redy to use a gel, roughly every...

I signed up for it yesterday before I heard some of the criticisms of last year's service. Hopefully it will be better this year.
