Re: ORW - Weather Obsession Thread

I'm the odd ball here...+25 and sunny and I'd be in heaven. I'd even take a humidex. That would allow me to finish, head home have a beer and pop in the pool. This +1 stuff, your nuts!!! That said I'm in Orlando the week before the race, get home Friday of race weekend. I'll get to heat adapt in tha...

Re: Boston Marathon Fixed?

When I watched the finish, and his time I quietly said the same thing. One yr after the bombing, all the media focus, perfect weather, yet a slow finish with an American winner, it doesn't pass the smell test... The money comment is too simple, if its fixed do you not think there was a pay day for t...

May to Sept is a long gap...you can do it, you'd be sufficiently recovered and trained by then.

Agreed Nick...it didn't even take any begging or pushing. I started the conversation with I have two questions, and the response was, "is question 1 can you defer to 2015, if so yes" so I withdrew question #2 as it was assuming the deferral was going to be a no. :) I'm certain it has to do...

Re: Grand 2 Grand Ultra

Well life has gotten a little simpler. I asked could I defer my entry to 2015, and was granted it. I had not been training for a stage race, nor had it even been on my mind until I won this. The G2G team is a great group and agreed it would be much better if there was no 100m race in the way, and my...

Re: What no Saturday

16K for me on a pretty breezy morning here in Kanata. The wind was gusting at 30-40 KM/H and I felt like I was running directly into it for about 60-70% of my run. I tried to run more by feel today as opposed to holding myself to a specific pace and I ended up running 20 seconds per KM faster than ...

It does look spectacular, and I love that area of the SW States. Nick I thought the training for Vermont was tough BTW it is, now I get to carry a 20lb sack in training. If nothing else I'll get a good tan, and lose a few extra lbs this summer. Its only April and I'm nervous. Though if I don't try I...

Grand 2 Grand Ultra

Sooooooo I attended the I2P fund raiser and silent auction last night. I put a bid on an entry for the race thinking there's no chance I'll win for this price...well I won, so am now a 2014 registrant for G2G...thankfully Ray and Mike (finisher from last year) came over straight away and offered to ...

13k first run since ATB...skipped last nights workout due to wanting beer more than running. Felt ok, calf strain is no better or worse than before ATB. Stepped above ankle deep in a lagoon near Carlton on the canal path. Wow it was cold.

First off, very nice to meet some RM'ers after the race. I was told by my new favorite RM'er that she didn't think I was so young. :) You know who you are, you're my favorite forever now. I had explicit instructions from coach to not race, the Vermont 100 is my target race, this was just a fun run. ...

Supposed to be a rest day after 14 straight, but I couldn't pass up the desert trails. 14k in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve again...started up Trial 8a to 8, and hooked up with 100 out to Scottsdale then back again. Amazing run, lots of climbing and very technical in areas, still no Rattle Snakes, h...

10k in the Squaw Peak paths in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve, wanted 15k, but ran out of water...surprisingly the 30c heat didn't bother me although I have a bit of a burn. It was a perfect day. That was some mighty climbing, my heart was pounding and my legs were burning. Piestewa Peak is brutal, i...

14K on the treadmill for me this morning. The first few KM's were on tight legs coming off the race from yesterday and I thought I was going to cut it short at 5K. I made it to 5K and figured I may as well bump it up to 7K. Got to 7K and was starting to feel a good rhythm do I decided to take it to...

We have a weekend coming up of snowshoeing, building a quinzhee for winter camping, and spa nordik the next day. We are so lucky to have that gem of a park so close. (If I stop posting on RM, it's because I built a bad quinzhee and joggers will find our bodies in April...) So we did our winter camp...
