Re: Hoka Shoes
Looking for advice on Hoka Cliftons: I've been running in Asics Hyperspeeds for many years now without problems. I've transitioned to more of a flat-footed or mid-foot foot strike. Over the last few months I've developed nagging heel pain low down below the Achilles attachment and this has now becom...

Re: Treadmill vs Outdoors
Having control over a great number of variables makes treadmill running an excellent way to get back in shape after a long layoff due to injury or illness.

Re: Vuelta a Espana, Tour of Alberta (contains spoilers)
Aru was a surprise in the TT. He didn't do to badly.
Also after struggling on the last mountain stage, he made a really strong effort at the finish. He's quite entertaining to watch as he displays more emotion than a lot of the riders.

Froome's chances for a top GC finish have diminished, if not ended. What caused him to crash at the start of today's stage?
Quintana and Valverde don't look so strong either.

Chicago Marathon drops pacesetters
From Canadian Running Magazine:

I, for one, am in favour of this. Thoughts?

Re: Tour de france 2015
I enjoyed the last week too. I would have liked it better if the challenge for the GC had been more serious, i.e. more riders in a closer position, more attacks etc.

Re: Tour de france 2015
Frenchmen in first and second place. France will rejoice tonight. Nothing new from the GC men. Contador was the only one who really tried. They are running out of time. Phil and Paul are saying (as expected) that it's a great tour. I am finding it a bit boring from the GC perspective. I don't know w...

Re: Tour de france 2015
Geraint Thomas' crash today was something else. I thought I'd had seen the worst. I was afraid it was going to be Fabio Casartelli all over again! I'm relieved he made it and hope they check him out really well in hospital for possible head injuries. And maybe a blood test or two? ;) Watching his h...

Re: Tour de france 2015
It's just not happening for Team Garmin. They couldn't get even a single rider into the break today! It's a rest day tomorrow then into the Alps. I hope the GC boys finally put on some meaningful attacks. They are running out of time. At least Nibali showed some spirit today. Geraint Thomas' crash t...

Re: Tour de france 2015
I like to watch the TdF for the scenery and a bit of drama now and then, but it's hard not to be cynical about doping etc.
Quintana, Contador, Van Garderen etc. did nothing today. If something doesn't happen tomorrow to shake things up, the rest of the Tour will be very boring indeed.

Re: Tour de france 2015
That's one thing I always find striking about Lance's 7 straight - put aside the doping for a moment. :) It's impressive that his team and him managed to avoid disasters year after year and get him to the finish line 7 times in a row. I'm sure some of that was luck, but they also just had a 6th sen...

Good stage today - lots of cobbled sections. Luckily, for the riders, the rain didn't arrive as predicted. The favourites are all still in contention except for Pinot who lost a lot of time.

Sounds like you had a great day in spite of the temp. and chip issues. I understand your pleasure at having that exchange with Katherine Switzer. I was thrilled to meet and talk with Bill Rodgers at an ATB spaghetti dinner once a long time ago. It's great when your idols live up to your expectations...

24th Moon in June 5K Burlington
As usual, I was quite anxious about this race. I get this way before every race as I only race about three times a year. My training had been going alright but not great. I didn’t think I could match last year’s finishing time but I would give it my best shot. The weather was perfect with a temperat...
