Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Awwwww that's so awesome Kiza!!! It really seems like most of your kids are interested in being active, which is great. Hopefully I can impart that in N too.

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

I'm so so glad to hear about Baby Smiles. I know how it feels to be concerned about weight gain! And... Do zombies steam clean their floors?? I think you're doing pretty well!! :D In other news I found a great sunscreen! It smells awesome and is non-nano, which I learned today means it can't absorb ...

Kristi, that's hilarious!! I love it!! I can just see Nathaniel doing that in 3 or 4 years. Geez on family runs I'll be getting it from both sides!

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Yeah it changes really quickly! Today he has been much better- two almost 2 hour naps so far and he'll have one more catnap probably before bed. I think he's getting ready to transition to two naps, which will be nice- we will have a bit more flexibility about when we do things. Thankfully nights ha...

awesome new running app

Hey everyone, one of my best friends works for Canadian Running Magazine and she was telling me about this app they just had developed. I downloaded it and it's FANTASTIC! It's called race guide, and it's free. You can search over 1500 Canadian races, read reviews, rate races and add races to your c...

Re: Good fuel for long runs

Thanks Allie! Those sound like a great easy option for long runs. Not messy either. I'll grab some to try. I'm also interested in trying those no bake energy bites that keep popping up on my FB feed.

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

He used to be pretty much able to fall asleep whenever, wherever. Around 4 months he got so I could tell he slept better in a dim, quiet place (like most of us!). I'm dreading the day he becomes like me and can't nap in the car. I envy people, adults AND babies, who can sleep in a loud or busy envir...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

When he naps in the crib, he (usually) gets a solid hour or hour and a half. He's good in the carseat too, but I'm not crazy about him sleeping in there for TOO long. I just want him to really sleep rather than catnap. He's a bear when he doesn't get good long chunks of sleep. Once I am running an h...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

First stroller run DONE! It was fun and I definitely noticed that it's more effort, especially uphill. N was out COLD, too! He has been fussy lately and not napping as well, so yay, I have another tool in my arsenal when he's skipped a nap and I get desperate (though I like for him to nap in his cri...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Nathaniel didn't drop down until 2 days before he was born, so I also didn't have a lot of lower belly pressure while I was running. I'm not sure at what point he was head down to stay. I know I was feeling some major pressure on my ribs from about 24 weeks on, which I assumed were his little monkey...

So sad. :(
I'm glad the family can have closure and bury him though. What a terrible and heartbreaking end.

Re: MEC Racing Series

Oh wow, that's awesome!!! I was considering doing Bread and Honey on probably the same day as race 2... and $15 fits in the mat leave budget quite a lot better. Something to think about for sure! And come to think of it... I might consider doing the 5K for the first one.

Woohoo, glad to see you back at it James!!
We are going to the TRACK today!! I can't wait!!! I have a feeling it will be humbling, lol, or maybe not as I expect to be VERY slow. It's a start, though.

Re: Training Tuesday

I did 10K today as well. I was planning on a shorter tempo run, with 10K tomorrow, but with the weather forecast I decided to combine the efforts. So I did 6km warmup (longer than I had planned- underestimated the distance) and 4K at the end at tempo (4:56 pace). I'm finding it really difficult to r...

Re: When is DQ not a DQ ???

I'm glad the right call was made in the end. I felt badly for Jordan Hasay, the runner on whose behalf Salazer filed the protest. I would bet lots of money that she had little or nothing to do with the protest, and that it was all Salazar. However, Hasay took a beating on social media. Other athlete...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

I haven't, though I got some fenugreek because I wondered if he was getting less milk. He loves to eat, and has never had problems eating. He seems done when he's done... I was worried because if he wasn't gaining weight, then maybe he "thought" he had enough when really he hadn't. If I do...

Glad to hear you're feeling better Jesse. Natalie, I'm jealous!!! Cool!! I did 8 km in about 44:00 today. The sun was much needed, but I could've done without the cold wind. Come on spring!!! I saw " orange coat guy" today, too- the guy I thought was Jeffery Boucher the day he went missing...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Yeah our ped said starting early is good for reducing allergies, but mainly he suggested it to anchor the milk in his belly. So far... It MAY be helping, but I've also seen a lot of oatmeal, green bean and sweet potato vomit. On another note I had a good run today!!! Iron Coll gave me the push I nee...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

He basically just said he's the age for it, and will likely grow out of it. He suggested starting food to anchor things a bit. Yeah the recommendations are all over the place- many sources still say wait till 6 months, including the WHO. He does seem to like it. I'm not giving him rice cereal- I'm m...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

I'm in a rut!! I hope it's one that passes quickly, but for the past couple of weeks I've really struggled to be excited about my runs. It's partly the weather for sure. I hate getting all bundled up, I hate the footing, I hate the cold. It's partly stress about Nathaniel's weight too- he spits up l...

I also found it not as bad as I expected. 13km done in just over 1:15, including two good hills. I managed to pick a route that forced me onto snowy sidewalks for only two 800m stretches so that's pretty good!

Oh yeah, the Chilly Half is today! Good luck racers. The weather will add an element of challenge. I'm planning on 13km today, but we'll see. It's pretty miserable out with gusting wind and several cm of new snow. :(

I have a feeling N will be late. I didn't get my first tooth till I was a year old, and I lost my last baby tooth in GRADE NINE!!! Well the last one that was coming out anyway. I still have one! Soooo not looking forward to teething. I'm trying to gather an arsenal of remedies to try beforehand- the...
