Re: Who's running PEC this year???

I'll be in Manitoba that weekend, so I won't be able to set up a bread station at 38K, but please cheer for runningwild for me (in the half).

Great race, Mark. Good to see out there on the course, and a good reminder that I need to work on my swimming

Re: Muskoka 70.3 Tracking
That was tough! I was looking forward to hammering a fast run, but by the time I got there all of that swimming and cycling stuff had worn me out. The run course has some nasty, nasty hills. i had fun riding with Mark for a while and saw Brad on the run course. Dianne and the kids cheered me on from...

FishHog #282 Of course I came down with something last night and have been sicker than a dog. Can't sleep, can't eat, feel dizzy. Not good. Hope it clears up before Sunday. I'm really not looking forward to the drive north tonight, but hopefully I can hold it together. FishHog Same here! It's bruta...

Re: Quick Taper Question
I'd stop everything two weeks out, just to make sure., or one week out if you really want to keep it going. It's not going to help you in the marathon and it could well hinder you. But I've always been in favour of an aggressive taper on all fronts. You want to start the marathon will a fully charge...

Re: Secret of Semenya's sex Stripped Bare
There's a good assessment of the situation here: http://www.sportsscientists.com/2009/09/caster-semenya-leaks-begin.html.
Some interesting info about earlier cases that weren't leaked to the media. The IAAF is actually quite accomodating when it comes to the gender issue.

Re: THE book on marathon running? Boston qualifying emphasis
The September issue of Canadian Running has a couple of good marathon plans by top B.C. coach John Hill -- who was recommended to the magazine by jwolf hersef. On the other side of the cost scale, you could sign up for online coaching from Jon Brown (RunByCommonSense.com) or Steve Boyd (PhysiKult). ...

Re: Training ride - Toronto to Niagara-on-the-Lake
Thanks for the advice. I got too busy and didn't have time to check back until now, but it'll be useful for next time. Mark, it would've been great to meet up along the route. I had Dianne drop me off before Oakville, so it was only 100k and I averaged about 30km/h. There was a significant headwind,...

Training ride - Toronto to Niagara-on-the-Lake
I'm doing a long training ride tomorrow as some last-minute prep for Muskoka 70.3 and I'm planning to go from Toronto to Niagara-on-the-Lake. I'll be getting a lift back home. Has anyone done the Toronto-Niagara Falls route? How long did it take you? Will I get lost?

[The guy might have had his hand on the steering wheel, but he didn't have his foot on the gas. Exactly. The obvious thing to do in this situation would be to stop the car and deal with the situation, whatever it was -- and Bryant knows that now, too late. Obvious? I think that could be disputed. I...

Bryant is a boxer. If he was so enraged, he could have punched the guy, something, anything other than trying to shake him off his car by flying at high speed the wrong way down a major street. That to me is intent to kill. He, of all people, show know how dangerous fast-moving cars can be. I don't...

The existing charges each carry a max of life in prison and 14 years. I agree with Mike. For all intents and purposes, he was just a guy reaching into a car, not a cyclist. He may have been drunk or violent, but Michael Bryant appeared to make the decision to press the gas down and accelerate at hig...
