Hey guys, sorry if I got heated up, but I didn't respond well to being told that I posted 'completely wrong information', when I consider it all accurate. The water stops are ok if you are carrying a water belt. But, I was on vacation, and had forgotten mine. If you go in knowing that there isn'tr ...

EDITED: Instead of attacking my character, why don't you write your own review, discussing the parts that you liked so much. As, I said there were great aspects of the race, and that way when people look up reviews they will see my highly negative review against others who had a much better time. S...

Re: Manitoba Marathon

http://www.manitobamarathon.mb.ca/ The stations were a good 6k apart at the start when hydrating yourself is the most important. It was reaching 40 c, and we needed to drink. When we were treated to a water stop, the water we received was served through garden hoses into old looking garbage cans. T...

Awesome experience isn't it? :-)

Soon you'll find yourself saying things like "oh, I just did 10k yesterday" then you'll be one of those crazy runners (a club I joined years ago).

Congrats on a great run and for feeling great after it!

That would be my preference in Medium. Now I won't have to model a woman's betty tank like I was forced to do last time :-)

I realized I forgot to mention a colour, so make it Orange!

I have paced people in many races, 10k & halfs. I was there to help them hit a personal best. I was a registered runner in all cases. Many races have explicit rules against un-registered runners on the course. There are some races in the ultra world where pacers are allowed, even encouraged, for...

Hi, I'm a geek and I admit it openly :-) I developed my own logging software because there was nothing out there for the Mac that was decent. I have been slowly migrating it to run as a web application; but I keep getting bogged down by both feature-itis (ie. integrating google maps), my day job, do...

Actually I'm a she :) The other question I had, aside from getting in enough mileage in training is how much should I be eating and what?? In the two marathons I've run, I've gotten by with just one gel each - eating and running - haven't really worked for me yet! Thanks for all the feedback. As fo...

Hi, Check out Hal Higdon's site for his ultra plan, that's the one I'm following. It is designed for the Comrades Marathon which is actually a 54 mile race. http://www.halhigdon.com/ultramarathon/ultramarathon2000.htm Two things are important (from what I have been told by some seasoned ultra runner...

One other poster alluded to this, but all your training paces have to be relative to your base, your overall running experience and your goals. If training for your first marathon, your base is going to be way more important than your tempo pace. I did almost no tempo running or intervals for my fir...

I'm not a huge one for labels, and even though I do describe myself as a runner, I do cringe slightly when one of the people I work with (who is a couch spud) asks how my jogging is going... I have yet to see a credible explanation for the hot/cold thing. The rationale I've heard (again in the Runner's World article) was that the cold constricts the lactic acid cells then they cling to the blood cells. The hot afterwards then starts the whole muscle flushing cycle. I used to use ice pa...

Hi Cheryl, how have you been? I've become a big fan of the ice bath. My methodology is based on an article I read in Runner's World about a year or so ago. Here's my scheme for voluntarily invoking severe shrinkage :-) * Disclaimer: A certain number of cards must be missing from your deck to think t...
