Sulphur is a good place to do a first 50k. Lots of support, well organized event, good vibe all around. The aid stations are well staffed and stocked and the trail marking is great. The course is a good mix of well groomed trails, a short gravel section at the start finish, a bit of pavement and the...

That is rather perverted... and sad... and hilarious all at the same time!!
The only mitigating factor in the whole thing is that they give you a bottle of beer (don't-look-a-gift-horse-in-the-mouth quality) with gear pick up.

Off the top of my head, DG Sulphur 100 Haliburton 100 Ask Kinga.. she has one or two ;) Yep, Sulphur and Haliburton give you one if you finish the 100 miler, and DG gives out one in the 24hr if you run 120km. I think the Calgary Marathon gives out belt buckles instead of medals, but not sure. Beast...

What a great excuse to travel. Thanks for sharing your running vacation! I imagine Jerry would have been missed by the runners. A lot of people have gone on the cruises and trips he organized.

Congrats Laura! Those trails sound a lot like the ones in Huntsville where Rocky Raccoon is held... roots hidden by leaves, small mud puddles. Let me guess, a few stretches of pine needle trails. Glad you had a good time. See, trails are being good to you.
