Welcome to runningmania, steve.
I haven't run Ozark 100, but I think one of our maniacs here, spaff, did it a few years ago. If you hang around long enough, he might post a reply.
From what I heard, it is a good race and technical in some parts.

Re: Sulphur Springs Trail Run
Time for a intervention for UltraQueenga. Something to snap you out of running ultras, like putting you on a treadmill and forcing you to watch Jerry Springer for a day..... :D I am going to do the 50 k and then cheer people on. Yeah, I did have an intervention of sorts. It's called sore hip or 'tr...

Re: Sulphur Springs Trail Run
It is good news that they are fixing that wet area. You're right, that swamp was a deepening lake at the end of the event after runners went through there hundreds of times. I'm not a fan of gravel, but it's better that they fix that spot somehow, because all the hills drain there. I wish they had r...

Re: Sulphur Springs Trail Run
I just got this today... an insider update from a Burlington runner regarding the trail conditions on the G.Donald Trail, aka the swamp. There was a section of trail in the sulphur springs race around 11k into the 20k loop that last year was almost swamp like and very wet - supposedly the trail sect...

http://i717.photobucket.com/albums/ww173/prestonjjrtr/Holidays/Friday13thBlackCatCrossYourPath.gif I've seen aaaall kinds of weird creatures on the trail, one-eyed raccoons, porcupines and what not, but no black cats scooting across like that. :)) Happy Friday the 13th! Have a good time, everyone!! Thanks for putting on the second annual Dunedin Run, Pierre. I really liked the venue and the course last year. Nothing like running on country roads along fields dotted with grazing sheep, then making a sharp left onto the glorious Bruce Trail. Unfortunately I am workin...

Interesting story. Sorry I've been absent... I've been out of touch with running lately, which is another story, but I've seen and read about Cody's bold plan and read the thoughts expressed here. As someone who was around on 10 of the 14 days that Charlotte was on the Bruce in 2010, I've seen what ...

Re: Sulphur Springs Trail Run
Sulphur is a good place to do a first 50k. Lots of support, well organized event, good vibe all around. The aid stations are well staffed and stocked and the trail marking is great. The course is a good mix of well groomed trails, a short gravel section at the start finish, a bit of pavement and the...

Congrats on pulling off a decent race despite feeling down with the flu.
You will rock the 100 miler when you go back!!!

Re: A new venue for a trail race
That is rather perverted... and sad... and hilarious all at the same time!!
The only mitigating factor in the whole thing is that they give you a bottle of beer (don't-look-a-gift-horse-in-the-mouth quality) with gear pick up.

Re: Belt Buckles
Off the top of my head, DG Sulphur 100 Haliburton 100 Ask Kinga.. she has one or two ;) Yep, Sulphur and Haliburton give you one if you finish the 100 miler, and DG gives out one in the 24hr if you run 120km. I think the Calgary Marathon gives out belt buckles instead of medals, but not sure. Beast...

What a great excuse to travel. Thanks for sharing your running vacation! I imagine Jerry would have been missed by the runners. A lot of people have gone on the cruises and trips he organized.

Re: Piney Woods 10
Congrats Laura! Those trails sound a lot like the ones in Huntsville where Rocky Raccoon is held... roots hidden by leaves, small mud puddles. Let me guess, a few stretches of pine needle trails. Glad you had a good time. See, trails are being good to you.

Congrats on a great adventure and thanks for sharing your experience! Freaky, but also beautiful to run in cougar territory. I can't imagine the vast expanse of snow and cold... Also can't imagine running with a pulk tied to me.
Well done, Derrick.

Holy smokes, that race is something else. I can't imagine 100 miles in that environment. I'd love to be a snow flea on his pulk.
I read your tir(e)ades about no snow during your training.

Thanks everyone. Lots of details in my reports and lots are omitted still... like running at dawn on Sunday and hearing a rooster go cock-a-doodle-doo somewhere in Nuuanu valley. No, I was not hallucinating. The island has thousands of free roaming chicken and the houses in the valley must have had ...

HURT so good... the 2012 H.U.R.T100 report
Apologies for the very belated report from Hawaii. Life got in the way a little and the weeks have been flying by as I'm still ruminating on this last race, sometimes reliving moments from it. HURT100 was my 11th 100 miler and felt a bit like I was training for my first. I was hugely intimidated by ...

Re: H.U.R.T. 2012!!!
Thank you all for the good vibes, congratulations and good wishes! HURT100 turned out to be very different from what we expected... in a good way. We had perfect conditions for the race (a dry course and no rain during the event) and everything fell into place. It was a rather surreal experience to ...
