Disney Saturday

Postby CinC » Sat Jan 10, 2009 1:56 am

ok - I'm no where near Florida, but it's almost midnight here - so Sat thread it is!

Good luck to those Disney runners running the half today! Mrs. Strider - have a great first! La - run fast chick! Strider and HciD - you goofs - have fun and try not to think that you have to double that tomorrow!

If I missed anyone else, I apologize in advance, but am sending you speedy vibes too!

Today's plan - swim in the morning, and then 2hr spin sufferfest with the guys (Real Rides IM Coeur d'Alene course here we come) followed by a run off the bike - finally chinooking here, so at least we don't need 500 layers on after we bike!

Have a good one everyone!

Good luck everyone!!!

Bodyflow (if I can make in time after the chiro) and cross training, which may or may not include a heavy amount of mall walking. I mean, I'll REALLY get my elbows into it when I'm at the mall.

Other than that... a day to unwind. Ahhhhhh.......
Next?

Good morning maniacs!! Go Goofy Disney maniacs :):)

A bit sleepy, I could not put my book down last night and went to sleep at 12:45 - oops. Was well worth it though (even though I bawled my eyes out for the last 40 pages).

Perfect morning to start marathon training, only -1 out! I am running 6km to a friends and then 13km with her :) We have not seen each other in a while so I know it will be an enjoyable run! Afterward hitting up *$ and then home. Afternoon will consist of going to the dog park and making Chickpea Ragout.

Have a great day maniacs!
Jocelyn

I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise...it's a consistent reward for victory!

No running for me today but I'm going to get on the bike trainer later. This afternoon I'm going to visit a newly formed xcountry ski club. Not much snow around Halifax but they claim they travel to find the white stuff so I'm in :!: Be nice to find people to ski with :D

Good luck all racers this weekend. Looking forward to race reports :D

It's so nice out that for the first time in ages I *wanted* to run outside.... but my foot is STILL sore and was getting worse at work last night (being on my feet...) so I think I'm going to take another rest day... have to work again tonight, and better to take days off during a cut-back week anyway...

This foot had better be fine by Tuesday! Have to keep upping the mileage...

giving blood today. It's been ages since I gave whole blood instead of plasma, but they like my O-neg. :)

Good luck to the Disney Racers and Blanken!!!

Easy 7k on the TM this morning, felt harder than it should have as my back was bothering me a bit. Stopped for a stretch after 20 minutes and felt a bit better afterwards.

Off to play taxi for the day... dance lessons, birthday party, dance lessons.... Then DH and I are off to the home decorating show and dinner.

Looking forward to doing my LSD outside tomorrow..first run outside since before Christmas!

I spent the morning freezing my feet off at the hockey area with the kids and now I'm just getting ready to go to my 2 hour indoor spin class. I haven't eaten very well this morning so I'm going to suffer a little on the bike today.

I wish I was at Disney! Enjoy your day Maniacs!

10K on the treadmill. Conditions were OK for outside (a bit cold), but I was busy around the place and became too lazy to get all my gear together.

Nice job a Disney everyone!

Moof and MacLean (Tori's Rob) are both doing the goofy as well.

Tori's doing the marathon tomorrow.

And, making his debut today...... Owen in the diaper dash!!! (I think it's today!)

GO OWEN GO!!!!

I just had a AWESOME run!

Sheamus and I did the "RR loop with the big hill added in" - it's about 5.6 km. My plan was 7 and 1's, but, my garmin's screen froze after 15 minutes (which it's doing a lot lately)....so, I guesstimated the walk breaks, and even skipped the last one!

I felt so alive...it was great. :)

I figure it was about 40 minutes (based on start/end times) and average speed recorded before the garmin screen died and I then accidently turned it off.
i run for me.

Well, it's too late to wish the Disney runners good luck for the half, but good luck to you Blanken (assuming your race isn't over as well).

This training week is basically over - yay - I think it's one of the hardest 3 or so in my training cycle.

Today was 26k with 20 @ goal Marathon pace (4:00/km). I hit the pace, but it was HARD. It should have been easier, but a couple of things ganged up on me:

1) My stomach was not happy this morning. I encouraged whatever was making it unhappy to leave by the same route it took in. That seemed to help, although I had to stop with dry heaves once along the way

2) There was a wicked wind out there. The route I take had me heading into it from kms 5-10, which really sapped me and made the last 10k feel probably a lot harder than they should have been. My worst 1k split (head on into the wind) was 4:12. But a lot of others were around 3:56 or so, so that made up for the wind misery.

Still, I hit the pace I wanted. I've got a longer M-Pace run coming up in a month or so. Hopefully that one will go better.

Easy 7k tomorrow, making up for a run I missed earlier this week, then my last cut-back week (yay!!)
2009 Highlights
Marathon - 2:54:05 (Mar 22 - Tokyo)
Half - 1:20:00 (Apr 26 - Hartwell)
5k - 17:09 (Acura 5k - Jul 19)
800m - 2:16.80 (York U - Jul 28 )
Now - Getting back my running fitness
My training log

Why practice running slow? It comes naturally!

"There are two types of injuries that we older runners get: those that we can run with and those that we can't. And if you're over 30 and don't have one or the other, you aren't training hard enough." - Younger Legs blog

Late Happy New Year's to everyone!

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend.

I had a great run today--1h15 feeling strong and no stupid numbness, needles, tightness in my right hip!

I am crossing fingers. I had great runs over the last two weeks. My stupid hip has felt the best in a long long time.
I run because it's fun.

In another life:
3 marathons including Boston twice (PB: 3:47), 6 halfs (PB: 1:45), 6 10k (PB: 46:41) and 3 5ks (PB: 21:00)

I was a weather wimp today - and it wasn't even *that* cold out (minus 20). I hit the treadmill instead - 10 km. Not terrible, but not as much as I would have liked. sigh.
