A hard day of pampering, pedicure and haircut for me! No run today, I have to go to a work function of hubby's tonight.

I think I will throw Miss R into the baby backpack and take one of the dogs for a walk. A walk + 20 pounds on your back = a pretty decent little workout.

Then likely bike to work and home.

Then 2 whole days off in a row.

:)
I used to run. All the time.
Now? Notsomuch.
I'm still a runner, though.

Erin, sounds like a heavenly day! :) I'm going to RunPub tonight for a speed workout. Woohoo- really! I love speed workouts, especially the first one of the season. It feels like racing season now.

runpub tonight, so probably a 45-min (ish) run this evening. I guess it depends on what Pat has in store for us. :?

Pyramid speed workout on the schedule today. I also had soccer on the schedule. And dinner at a friend's. Then I remembered how last Wednesday (morning run, work, soccer, meeting) nearly killed me. Then I heard that the sidewalks are really slippy (not so good for speed). Then I remembered that I hope to finalize some apartment stuff in the next day or so (maybe tonight)....

So, I stayed in bed. :) I'll skip soccer tonight in favour of the speed workout and dinner (and maybe apt stuff.)

The workout: 10 min w/u, 1 min on, 1 off, 2 on, 1 off, 4 on, 1 off, 2 on, 1 off, 1 on, 1 off, 20 min c/d. Apparently the 1s on are at 5K pace, the 2s on are 10K pace. (As if I know what those are!)

I slept through my alarm this morning  So it'll be a rest day for me.

Luckily, it was just a 7k easy run on the agenda, so I'll probably make it up this weekend.

Why practice running slow? It comes naturally!

You could always join us at runpub! Your 7K easy would be faster than a tempo for me!

Good Morning!

11K out in the ridiculous April weather. I don't mind running in this, but it's April already! I should have my shorts out!

Good news is that it was my best run in a while! Felt fabulous. I would have liked to have gone further, but I ran out of time.

Have a good one!

an interesting 'focused' swim working this morning

3 x 300 warm up (one minute rest between)

20 x 50 for time and stroke count. I have been really working at trying to get my stroke rate up, so this was a good one for me to do. So, the deal was to add time and number of strokes to get your score (sometimes called swim golf). so I was staying around a score of 85 and 86 with a time of 50s and 35 or 36 strokes. I managed to get my time down to 48 with 37 strokes.

I used the tempo trainer and was staying consistent with a stroke rate of 1.24 to 1.2. Once it dropped below 1.2 it was hard to maintain my stroke length, but was the same time for the 50 or a hair faster. So looks like I need to start doing some work in and around this rate.
The rumours are true......

Not sure if I'm suffering from allergies or a virus but man, feels like the truck clipped me. Bad sleep with lots of coughing so I just couldn't drag myself out for a MLR this morning.

My fridge is empty so groceries tonight. Run will have to be tomorrow instead. I'll combine the distance with a few intervals to combine the workout... if I feel better.

Probably a 12-13km run tonight. Probably an easy pace. Hopefully the snow will be gone; I'd hate to have to put my YakTrax on...

Apparently I slept on the couch last night. Woke up about 7:30 to Tiger scratching at the blinds. (I was up late cooking, thought to myself, "I'll just nap while the brisket rests before I cut it...")

So now I'm making gefilte fish (from scratch...it's turning into an adventure...I just found fish skin in my tin of smoked mackerel), finished the brisket, and have to finish the soup. Eric will be here (from Atlanta) in about 3 hours, so I'm hoping to have the cooking done before he gets here so we can finish cleaning the house, clean the kitchen, and set the table...then go for a run before our guests get here.

Happy Passover to those of you celebrating the holiday...I hope you have great seders tonight!!!

Yesterday was TM 4miles in 30 min
Today will be just 2-3 miles easy and then 5 miles at tempo for Thursday.

Did an extra marathon on Sunday at a slower speed as my last long run so I need to have more rest this week as I gear up to Boston.

Good morning! Missed checking in yesterday but it was about 10 km on the treadmill at an easy-ish pace with a few gentle hills to keep the legs honest. Today was a very easy and flat 12 km. I was running with a couple of guys from my gym who were a) recovering from injury, or b) running slowly, so it was easier to not let my pace creep up. Both times I wore my IT band strap, and am happy to say that my knee is okay. Yesterday afternoon I was kind of nervous, waiting for that delayed onset thing, but the worst it got was a little dull achey sensation off and on. If I weren't so paranoid after the weekend I might not even have noticed it.
Acupuncture at lunch, so if there is residual inflammation that should help get rid of it.

Have a great day - it starts getting warm again tomorrow and the weekend should be lovely :)

It will be either a trail run at lunch or a MTB ride after work. Not sure which yet.

Have a great day everyone!
