flexrun - Ottawa Canadian Marathon Championships

Postby flexrun » Mon May 10, 2010 1:41 pm

Hi everybody,

As some of you maniacs might already know, I am running the Ottawa marathon at the end of this month where I will attempt to be the very first single leg amputee to not only break that important 3 hour barrier but also qualify for the IPC World Championships in New Zealand. This has been one of my goals for well over a year now and I feel that I am well prepared. I am really excited to be doing this in the nations capital. Many of you have been a powerful source of inspiration for me in the past with all of your advice; kind words of encouragement and of course the cheering when I am running my events. I find that I can tap into your energy to get me through some of those painful miles and it is a HUGE help.

I wanted to ask for your help in attaining my goal by asking if there is one marathon video that is a must to watch for inspiration, what movie would you recommend?

Good luck to all who are also running Ottawa and I hope you achieve your personal goal as well :D !

Have a good run up there Flex, I'll be cheering for you!!!

Kind of an appropriate time for this request I've been going through my favourites lately getting ready for Mississauga this coming weekend.

Beyond Limits
- It isn't marathon based but it sure is motivating.
Saint Ralph - a bit silly, but a classic too.
Evolution Running - just a few reminders as I head out to the show.

Around the Bay - 1:58

Perhaps not really that motivational, but funny.

It's been ages since I've seen Chariots of Fire ... at least I think that was a movie about running .... :shifty:

Although, the Men's Marathon in Beijing Olympics would be neat one to watch, if you can it ....

My two cents..if you can find a recording of Simon Whitfield's run portion of the triathlon (especially near the finish) at the last Olympics...that gets me fired up just remembering it.

Best of luck, Flex. You always been a 'big game' player....we have no doubt Ottawa will be the same!!
