Deep Freeze Saturday

Postby Marg » Sat Jan 22, 2011 8:11 am

No exercise on my agenda except for a workout in the grocery store and finally finishing the unpacking of my suitcase. Hmmm I guess that means a lot of laundry lies ahead too then.
This week was a blur but it seems I've survived it.

A full weekend of reading work stuff ahead and figuring out a plan for running next week, which is now a bit more challenging that originally expected.
Vacation was nice at least.

12k MP to do today, plus a kids B-Day party with sledding. I'm not too motivated to get out in -20 :(

Slow 15K in the dark, the Moon and Venus were stunning. Two more inches of snow overnight has made everything mushy again. For the second straight day, a white bunny paced me through the cemetery.

Had a nice little 10K / 56:xx with Beth this morning @7:30am up and down Terry Fox to Eagleson and back .... It was a nice and balmy -21C or so with little windchill factor ... and, felt a wee bit nicer on the second half when the sun came out to play ....

Just warmin up and resting up before my first XC ski session this afternoon .. 8)

It was minus 35 this morning, and that was before you factored in the windchill. Brrrrrrr. Went to hot yoga - the heat was lovely.

I think one of his relatives ran with me last night - I had a white bunny run with me for a couple of blocks through my neighbourhood before he took off.

10k in the sunshine and positive temperatures for me in a few minutes.

Just over 50min (10km), first 20 or so with Pup, I didn't want to keep him out too long. That sun, even in -20, is beautiful.

Tomorrow, 3:15. Running loops(3) of Wolf. Hope to be there at 8:00 to start and cycle back ever hour'ish to the parking lot if anyone wants to meet up for a loop or two.

I may be up for that. I've got 26 to do tomorrow. What's the best route to P13 at this time of year?

Chilly LSD done with ATB group....didn't quite do the full 26k, as my hip flexors were totally locked up by about 20k. Ended up doing 23.33km in 2:35 (avg pace 6:39/km) in -19C/-26C with windchill.

Off to chiro in an hour to adjust my stupid hips. Tomorrow is supposed to be even colder - I'm staying inside!!

PinkLady-
Interesting that the RR has a Saturday long run for the ATB group.
Why do they do that? Or is this a different clinic?
Hope your hips can get sorted out- that doesn't sound fun.

For me- I'll do about 13k later this morning. Gorgeous out today- tomorrow I might opt for a treadmill long run while watching football in the afternoon if it's raining in the morning. I figure I'll be watching TV anyway.

Oh, we usually run on Sundays with the usual runclub, but the last few weeks we've been doing it on Sat because of scheduling conflicts. It's a really small group - only 6 or so of us - so it's not a full clinic group or anything. We're sort of an unofficial offshoot group anyways, since our store doesn't do a clinic at that distance.

I'm starting to think it's a biomechanical thing, because I keep having hip/lower back issues when my runs get past 20km.....GRRRRR.....leftover from pregnancy. I have my run assessment next week, so I look forward to seeing what the PT says!

Just get off the Hwy 5 at Chelsea, turn left and keep driving straight, past the Fortune turnoff through to Meech Lake.

Each loop is about 8.5km 1/2 up and 1/2 down. ;)

Got ready for 7 miles and only got 2.5 miles in. I was tired and feeling dizzy. We had to walk back home :( I gave blood last night and I had arm pain all night. Not sure if this is related but we'll have to try our 7 miler tomorrow instead. I wanted to go see Eme downtown but I'm going for a nap instead.

I don't run the day after giving blood. Yes, it is most likely related. I don't know if you remember, but a couple of years ago when I ran the day after giving blood, I fainted on the street. So I don't risk it anymore. Rest up!
