Race Kit Saturday

Postby La » Sat Jul 21, 2012 7:11 am

Heading downtown around 10AM to pick up my race kit for tomorrow. Will ride my bike, which will likely be the only workout I do today.

Got my LSR in today. Biggest problem I had was keeping it slow! I would be toodling along thinking it was a nice easy pace and glance at the garmin to find I was 30-60seconds faster then I should be! As a result I felt it at times in my legs feeling a bit heavy but otherwise I just cruised through the run this morning. I think the change in temperature / humidity is a big part of it (though it was 17C and 77% humidity by the end!). Took over 4 minutes off my usual time for that length of run ...

Some running around doing errands and housecleaning today and off to see Wicked tomorrow!

Had a nice and steady 21.1K / 2:15:xx lsd run with Jes and Beth along the TCT / Greenbelt / Corkstown loop in Kanata this morning ... Started at 6:30AM @12C and ended up at about 23C and sunny when it was all done ........ 8)

Resting up a bit with the TdF Time Trials before heading to work a shift at the Shop ....

Have a great day, everyone .... :P

Got the K's in today, but I can't say it was my best run. Rudely interrupted on a couple of occasions! I wanted to do my long run, but my stomach was not cooperating. I'll blame it on last night's pizza.  Instead I stuck to my 1 mile loops to keep me close to home.

17K done! Difficult run, but the best part is, I didn't give up on it! I'll take that from today

I did my long run on the spit, just over 16 and a half km's. I went out at 11, which seemed fine until probably 12:15 or so when I started to feel pretty hot. It was OK though, I took it pretty easy on the way back with a water stop and all was well. It was certainly cooler than it's been. I was just about to step in the water for my post long run leg soak (my favourite part!!) when a lifeguard started warning people about high e coli levels. :( I hope it's cleared up tomorrow for racers... that's not good.

Off to the library and the park now! It's gorgeous out and I've got some newly acquired tan lines to even out! ;)

The only beaches posted as closed were Kew/Woodbine and Marie Curtis. Cherry and Sunnyside are fine. Cherry is well below the 100ppm limit for the Blue Flag program (and 100 is a VERY stringent standard - some Blue Flag beaches in Europe will allow up to 300ppm). Marie Curtis was up over 600 after the big rain storm last Sunday.

ETA: Friday's sample at Kew/Balmy was up over 1100ppm! Yikes!

Nice run this afternoon- my 10 y/o boy rode his bike alongside for 12km through Presqu'ile Park, then we ended at the beach where we met the rest of the family. Felt so good to jump into the water after a run in that heat!
Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.
