Sunny chilly Sunday

Postby Irongirl » Sun Sep 09, 2012 6:31 am

It's below 10 degrees in Ottawa, but warming up a bit. Perfect for our 20 km Army Run course discovery run in Ottawa.

I'm happy to not see rain in the forecast!

Glorious morning here- headed out just before the sun came up and did 20K through Presqu'ile Park. Leaving after breakfast for a day trip to downtown TO with the family to play tourist for a day. Should be a blast!
Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.

Just leaving for the Winnipeg 10+10. Overnight low in the Peg was 2 but it has crept up to 6. Perfect running weather. Have a good one everybody.

I did my 26k run yesterday -- strong first half, and strong final 5k, but there were some walking portions in the middle. Ah well, I completed the distance. Then I went and jumped in the lake to cool my legs down.
Woke up this morning and thought my stomach was trying to consuming itself - need food! Then a 5k recovery run or a bike ride.

23 degrees and 100% humidity made for a drippy 33K long run. Added to yesterday, I think that might be my biggest weekend in over a year.

A nice a brisk and sunny 10C, 23K / 2:15:xx lsd run with Jes this morning in and around Kanata South and Stittsville and along bits of the Trans Canada Trail ... And, a surprise highlight was finding an itty bitty teenie weenie turtle sun tanning on the side of the road .... Think it may have been a snapping turtle (???)

Yep! Lovely morning out there for running. A bit breezy, but otherwise perfect.

30K@6:10 pace. Pretty good for the most part!

In love with the temperature today! Wore long sleeves for the first time in ages. Ran 15k with hills - about 3k longer than I intended, but feel good. Running errands now and then yoga later will feel amazing :)

It was definitely a chilly morning, but in the end left my arm warmers behind, and that was the right decision. Ran 14K in 1:25 for a 6:02/km pace. That's faster than my usual LSD pace (6:20), but the first half of my run I did with faster people, and the second half had a lot of downhill.

ETA: ran into Bald Guy and a friend after the run. Nice to catch up with him (yes, he ran, too!).

I also gained an instant injection of speed from the temps this morning! I have been feeling SO slow lately because it's been muggy... I haven't really cared all that much, but it was certainly nice to have a run that didn't feel sluggish! My run buddy and I did almost 19K at a 5:16 pace. :D

OH- word to the wise, for TO people that run in Taylor Creek Park- the wooden ramp that crosses the tracks and goes down to the parking lot near Don Mills Road is out. We went up across Don Mills and down a super steep, muddy hill down to the parking lot and it was all good, but if you're planning any sort of pace run or anything, bear that in mind! I think they are also taking out the wooden ramp south of the "teeth"- it looked that way on the sign we saw on the way out of the park, at least. It should be done by spring.

Not chilly in Halifax. 25 and soupy humidity with lots of wind. I bailed on my planned 18k and did 12k. Then changed my registration for next week's half to a 10k instead.

Queen City Half Marathon done! 1:46:33 (better than I deserve, under the circumstances!) and a nice day. Watched my FIL, his brother, and his brother's wife all finish the half as well (FIL's first!). Also saw ian's training buddy win the full, and CinC found me afterwards for a nice if very brief visit.

15km this morning, but not a great run. It was too cold, and one of my bottles leaked out so my backside was totally wet when I realized it. Finally, I was trying Hammer Perpetuem and it is not working for me. I will be back HEED now.

Amazing what a drop in the temperature does! I was aiming for 16k today but thought that might be a stretch, since I was feeling a bit 'off' yesterday, and had trouble motivating myself to get out of bed this morning. I opted to take my mp3 player (first time I've ever taken it on a longer run) just to entice myself to get out the door.

However, once I got moving, it felt GREAT to be out and not fighting the heat for a change. My planned 16k-ish route got a bit derailed because I forgot which turn I meant to take in Rosedale (I always get a bit turned around in there) and turned into a 19k run, although once I got past the 16k mark I allowed myself some extra walk breaks on the last bit. My longest training run ever! (Only time I've ever run longer than that was the half in May). My knees and hips were complaining a bit by the end (not surprisingly), but energy-wise, I felt I could have kept going, which was a great feeling to have.
PR's so far: 5K 27:15, 10K 55:25, 21.1K 2:10:53, 42.2K 5:21:27
Upcoming: Toronto Women's 5k in May, STWM Half in October

Sunny chilly Sunday

Postby marymac442 » Sun Sep 09, 2012 4:24 pm

Did about 18k in 2:15 in and around Whistler, two golf courses and a couple of lakes. Distance was shorter than planned as I was meeting friends for breakfast and I wasted a fair amount of time periodically trying to figure out where I was and which junction to take. Lovely bike paths around Whistler

Nice one Hammie.

Got in a good 32k run capping off a 100k week (first ever). The last few kms felt good with lots left in the legs.
