I just want to let everyone know that the third annual Run4RKids will take place January 5, 2013 at the York University Keele Campus.
This event takes place on the indoor track, with distances of 5 km, 10 km, 30 km, marathon and a 6-hour timed event.
This will be my third time running this race and it's a blast! With few races to choose from in the middle of winter, it's a nice escape from the cold (and you don't have to worry about peeving off the Toronto drivers with pesky road closures!)
And if running endless loops of an indoor track doesn't appeal to you (although I can't imagine why!), the organizers are looking to fill some volunteer slots, so PM me if you'd like to help out and I'll direct you to the right people.
To register or for more information, go to:

I hope to see some Maniacs there!

Registered for the 6 hour.
Things I liked about this event ...
Get to request 3 tunes played over the PA.
Aid station every 200 or so meters.
Get to lap Maryaka and say " Hi " ... many times!
Get to see Cbaker go out too fast ... again!
Get to hit the wall and be within 200 meters of an aide station, walk 3 laps ... recover then run 10 more laps and hit the wall again!
You get to go to York U for a day.
You can check up on how the new Subway extension is going.
There was Pizza at the end
It feels like a OUS reunion
Get to see your name on the scoreboard every 200 meters.
See you on the track.

I'm in!
I am fortunate to have Running Free as a sponsor. I like to keep silly stats and maps of my Daily Neighbourhood Tours, Races and Marathons run in a Silly Yellow Shirt.

I only noticed WestGreyRunners comment about me now!!!
Trying to achieve a negative split is about as overrated as actually tapering for a race. Just ignore those rules.
There is another common rule of thumb I hear about all the time that I have learned is not correct. People tell you that you should take 1 day of rest for every mile you have raced. Just to correct everyone, its one hour of rest for every mile you race.
