Ask BJH. She knows where to find trails out your way.

This is a bit late, but how west in the west end (your user name and "west end" confuse me)? High Park has some. Also, Hilton Falls, Hockley Nature preserve (free parking), Bruce Trail, Dundas Valley conservation area ...

I plan on doing this race and live in Etobicoke. High Park is a good place to train for this race if that is west end to you. There are trails near the Humber as well.

I think he mentioned in another thread that he's relocated to Etobicoke for work but hasn't updated his username accordingly.

Thanks. :)

Claireville Conservation Area and Albion Hills Conservation Area are possibilities too, for trails. For Run for the Toad you want to make sure to get hills. The High Park Running Room's Marquis de Sade route is probably a good choice, too. It's on the road, but definitely not flat.

And, just for La, here's some mid town dirt.

Crothers Woods is a great place to train in the city. Although Run for the Toad is not nearly as tough as Run for the Toad.

I've started hill training, but likely won't hit the trails until June. That's when my "real" training will start (after cycling in France and the Ottawa Half).

Thanks for all the info!!

I am indeed in Etobicoke now. Actually very close to the Humber...but didn't know theer were trails outside of the regular path. I'll have go hunt them down in the spring.

I just signed up - no turning back now! :o I am runner #11. :)

FYI: there is a 50K relay (4x12.5) so if anyone is thinking they'd like to run the race but aren't up to doing 25/50K, that's a good option!

It may not hurt to take a look this weekend if you are comfortable running on packed snow. Let everyone else break trail on Saturday and go wild on Sunday.

There isn't tons, but there are some from south of Stephen Drive and also follow the twinned path north of Dundas. There's a good hill spot up the east side of the ravine north of Dundas.

Oh, I'm in. I'm not sure that racing this past Saturday was an advisable thing to do, but I don't think any permanent harm was done.

Updated forecast for tomorrow:

Mostly cloudy, 30-40% POP, temps ranging from 15C at the start to 21C at the end of the race. That's much better than the previous forecast!

Yes, I've been watching closely, and it looks like we're going to miss the worst of it. After last night's rain, as well as tonight's, I think it's going to be a pretty soft course.

Since I don't have trail shoes, I'm bringing a change of shoes in case mine get soaked.

I have trail shoes. I still expect mine to get soaked. A change of shoes isn't a bad idea, and dry socks would probably feel nice on the last lap.

Yes, spare shoes, spare socks, and a spare shirt. If your shoes are soaked, then dry socks don't really help.
