Crappy weather = no Sunday thread?

Robinandamelia wrote:Great race in the pouring rain today in Barrie. Finished in 1:44:56 which was good enough for a 3rd page age group finish and a 14th place finish for females and 83/495 overall. This is about a 3 minute PB for me as well. Very happy with this result. Ran a 4:56/km pace for 16K then dropped to 4:57/KM at 17K then stopped checking the watch after that.

Well done!!

We did 16k in 1:37, but the pace felt much tougher than the numbers show. The plan was to start on the easy side and then build a bit in the last 5-6k. We did pick it just a bit, but it never really felt easy. Still- a great run overall- so glad to be able to do longish runs again with Rob. :) I'm hoping next weeks race will feel better at a slightly faster pace when I'm better rested, better hydrated (a bit too much beer last night!), and in cooler weather.

Mental-toughening 32K in the rain around the school track at about 4:30/K. A bit of ammonia smell (protein burning) at the end let me know that it was a good time to stop.

I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise...it's a consistent reward for victory!

At least you didn't have to shovel it first!

No run today, bike ride instead. Like La said, she's a wee bit sticky and humid here in the Big Smoke.

It should feel easier in the race since we're starting 2 hours before and there's beer waiting after. :)

I have 2 more days before I can officially start training again. I might try the treadmill tomorrow afternoon, to see how I feel. :)
