Amster-dam good Saturrday

Postby jharbeck » Sat May 24, 2014 4:05 am

Ha! I get to start the thread because it's already after 11 AM where I am today – in Amsterdam. Which turns out to be a great city for running, and full of runners. My hotel is near a park, so I mostly ran there. The streets can be a little more obstacle-y, but there's no shortage of runners. Watch out for the bikes, though! They own this city.

Good luck to today's racers! Rest day for me, but I've got a full day of gardening underway. I bought lots of plants at the garden center. :D

Ran 9.5 km today with the local running club. Sunny and about 15 C!!! Finally warming up, grass awesomely green and the trees leaving out after the latest spring in memory.

Ran the Amsterdam Half Marathon a few years ago and had a few other runs in the city besides. Flat and at sea level. My two favourite things!!!

50 miles of beautiful trail running at Sulphur Springs today. Finish time was 10:12:xx, and I have to say I'm very happy about it! Pretty sure I'm going to lose a toenail, and I have a big blister on my right foot. I may put together a race report later, but I'm thinking about heading to bed early tonight.

17km done in the beautiful sunshine today! I definitely need to start bringing water on my runs, though. The last 5k or so were a bit bonkalicious. :) The rest of the day was spent chilling in my garden and on my deck with beers in hand. Happy weekend!!

I hear you QC, I only ran 5 miles and I needed water! We stopped at a park about 1.5 miles left but it was too late, I was dehydrated!

congrats timc and Robin on your 50 milers!

I ran 5 miles today in Portland. Ok it was part walking and taking photos. It was a sightseeing run. :)

Now I plan to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING until the race on Monday. :)

Oh nothing except hanging out in the hot tub and drinking cheap american alcohol. :P

So impressive, Robin and timc - you're a huge inspiration to those of us who think "maybe one day"! Congrats to you both. I can't even imagine the sense of accomplishment (and exhaustion) you must be feeling. As we say in the maritimes, "Good on 'ya" :). Enjoy your well- deserved rest.
We train more joyfully and productively when we focus on the now, rather than on our future race day performance. It's a long road from here to there with many miles to go. We need to run each one. Accept where you are today and simply be thankful for the work you've accomplished. KA
