Baseball Thursday

Postby RA. » Thu Oct 08, 2015 6:29 am

Luckily for dh (and I guess me, by default), the Jays game today is on at 4:30. So, it was an early start this morning, getting the workout done before work so he can get home early enough to watch the game.

Strength work and then treadmill walking done.

7 miles on a cool and sunny day in Gatineau. Best time of the year, baseball, football and hockey all at once!

Out early this afternoon for a 2 hour run bracketed by my usual 30 minute warm up and cool down walks.

Ran the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign 5K race at lunch today and wound up with a huge personal best. I was very happy as I hadn't really prepared for the race at all (found out about it a short time ago and decided to run it as one of my weekly runs) and the course was also along the parkway and it had some deceptive hills. Definitely not as "PB friendly" as a course along the canal.

I guess the summer of increased mileage, increased frequency and gutting it out in the heat and humidity paid off. I'd love to run a flatter course in temps around zero to see if I could break the mark I set today. I think it would definitely be possible.

Happy early long weekend everyone!

Interesting that you say that, as I have found it to be one of the faster courses around due to the rolling "false flats" .... considering you had a huge PB ... Ha !!! :) :P

Ha! Maybe you're right. There was a nice downhill stretch mid race that probably helped keep my pace up. The worst was in the last KM and maybe it was just the typical 5K "is this thing done yet" effect that was contributing to it, LOL.
