Time Trial for a Half

Postby militarybrat » Sat Jun 02, 2012 6:41 am

What is a good 'time trial' for a half marathon - in order to figure out proper training paces.
If you don't want to spend the $$ to do a 5k/10k race, is there a specific workout that you could use to decide your paces training forward?

Go warm up, run 5k at top pace then fig it out?

I find that an 8km TT tells me exactly the pace I can manage for a half.

There are some pretty inexpensive 5k races around if you look, but simply measuring out 5k and racing it yourself will do.
