I just wish you all were closer! We need to work on this at my end of the country...

I know you've got more mountains there, but we've got more ultracrazies here.
You gotta come out and run with us sometime.

Can't you score some cheap flights to TO? The rest would be maniac hospitality. :D

not this year, unfortunately (I would LOVE to come out for Hailburton! maybe next year!).

We have awesome mountains and trails here, just not many maniac-ultra-runners. Maybe I need to do a recruitment drive.

I’ll be having another training run July 31 – Meet 2 Base Camp, Haliburton Forest @ 8:30 AM– Please confirm u will be coming & what distance u want to run –

I was thinking maybe heading up the Friday Night and running on the 3rd, depending on what Coach says :)

The 18th is too close to Wakely and the 31st is too soon after Wakely

I was thinking the 3rd would fit best for me too. Don't think I can do Limberlost and the training run and I think I'd be tapering for Dirty Girls around the 31st. Not too sure what distance I want to run though :?

We're going up to do Limberlost, so on Sunday we're doing the training run in Haliburton. Looking forward to being up there again! We're away racing on the other two dates.

I'm doing the Limberlost and I'm thinking of staying up and doing the Haliburton training run on the Sunday. Probably a (slow) 25 km.

Looks like I am in for the 3rd. Hard to camp there that weekend because it is the Long weekend you have to book for three nights. Helen offered that I could car camp at her place, but I may just make it an extra long day and drive up that morning. Ideally I'd like to run 40km, from the turnaround back (spaff's idea). If anyone else is interested maybe we could work out transportation options to the turnaround. Just throwing it out there.

Oh and I registered too for the 50miler + 2 dinners and 2 nights camping for MrsS and I - All in baby!

The Viking is having second thoughts about doing 56k and 40k back to back with 2 weeks before Burning River 100.  I'm itching to run at Haliburton again. Maybe 2 loops of Normac or something shorter than 40k. Still not sure and haven't emailed Helen yet. IF we're coming it would be on the Limberlost weekend.

Me thinks what which the Viking says is wise. Save it for Burning River.

Is anyone planning on going up on the 4th of July for the training run? It is the day after S-Creemore and I'm thinking of doing up to 40K that day. I am passing on the run after Limberlost as terrain is quite technical for both courses and Burning River 100 is on deck two weeks after...

Yes I did mention to Helen what I'd like to run. Waiting to see who else shows up and what they want to run. Definitely want to get back up, there so I'm in for anything.

After a couple of conversations with Spaff, we think it best if I take a pass on the training run on July 3rd. I am really bummed because I'd love to go for a run in the forest, but with just 3 weeks before Wakely Dam, my time for that weekend would be better spent putting in a good back-to-back training weekend, and not spending it driving to and from Haliburton.

Sorry, guess I'll have to wait till September to enjoy the woodland fairies.

Striders,
Just a question as I think you both ran Ultimate XC at Mont Tremblant.
Is Haliburton flat-ish compared to Ultimate XC?
