I have too many trips planned this year, unfortunately. :( If I came to haliburton I'd have to give up Melissa's!

Amen - Hands down one of my best running experiences ever, pacing Spaff last year. Really bummed he didn't get into WS100. Would have loved to be there for him too (but there is always next year). It is the best way to experience 100mile race without running 100miles. But watch out, after you'll be registering for your own death march :)

After some deep thinking about the year ahead, I have decided to not try and tackle my first 50miler and 100miler in the same year. My cautious attitude has served me well in the past and I must continue to be smart, so the 50miler this year and 100 next, but there maybe another 100 before HF next year ;)

No online registration for Haliburton? I looked at the online registration list, and saw all the other OUSer races, but not Haliburton.

If you look at our list today, the order of distance and number is cute. One for the shortest distance, then two for next , four for the fifty mile and eight for the hundred.

It's contagious! It must be all that grazing from the same plate of candy, cookies and pretzels during these trail runs. You go to one, eat some cookies, next thing you know you're signed up for a 100 miler.

How's this for a good omen as far as Haliburton goes...

The viking and I are running home tonight on the Humber trail. The usual. Viking run-commutes home and I run up the route and meet him halfway and we run home together.
We usually greet, nod or wave at other runners we see on the trail/path.

At one point we passed these 2 little clusters of power walkers and we said hello. This short little lady says, "I know you two from Haliburton... last year! I was working the aid station with Helen's sister!" Her name is Anne and she was at the aid station on Poachers' Trail. It was soooo nice to chat with her. I remember having hot coffee and cookies at her aid station around 3 in the morning after nearly going bonkers "seeing" things and panicking about bears, dying batteries and getting lost in the Forest.

She was saying that she is so inspired by crazy ultrarunners and she loves volunteering at Haliburton. How cool is that? Seriously, it's people like Anne that help you get to the finish line.

So, I'll take that as a good omen that Haliburton will be a great event and good things come to those who are patient. :D

No idea when registration opens, but I assume it will be soon.
As for caps, I don't remember there being one in previous years.

Between Doonst, Kinga and TCC ...Woodland Faerie has been convinced she must be at Haliburton this year to cheer on Maniacs. 8)

Kinga has convinced her she must hang around to see the 100 milers finish.  Never knew Kinga could be so persuasive...sheesh...she's almost convinced Jo-Jo she can start trail racing even with her vision troubles

It's on my calendar...and fits with my race schedule. Haliburton...here I come...looking forward to it :D :D

FYI...there was talk of there being some change of the Haliburton route for this year, with new trails being cut. However, I just heard from Helen this morning and the route will be the same for this year as in the past.
