How's this for a good omen as far as Haliburton goes...
The viking and I are running home tonight on the Humber trail. The usual. Viking run-commutes home and I run up the route and meet him halfway and we run home together.
We usually greet, nod or wave at other runners we see on the trail/path.
At one point we passed these 2 little clusters of power walkers and we said hello. This short little lady says, "I know you two from Haliburton... last year! I was working the aid station with Helen's sister!" Her name is Anne and she was at the aid station on Poachers' Trail. It was soooo nice to chat with her. I remember having hot coffee and cookies at her aid station around 3 in the morning after nearly going bonkers "seeing" things and panicking about bears, dying batteries and getting lost in the Forest.
She was saying that she is so inspired by crazy ultrarunners and she loves volunteering at Haliburton. How cool is that? Seriously, it's people like Anne that help you get to the finish line.
So, I'll take that as a good omen that Haliburton will be a great event and good things come to those who are patient.
