Re: Kingston Self-Transcendence 6-Hour Race, 2014
As I stated on FB, I'm in unless something comes up (like it did last year). It looks like a fun event. I have a friend who's done it and says it was pretty good! Not as flat as the indoor track

The C-Moss B&B will be open.
She has informed me that a priority reservation has been tentatively reserved for Uncle Andy.
I suspect she will not increase room rates for the 2014 race season...will inform if otherwise.

Uh oh, not quite the response that I was expecting from my Coach(es) at K2J Fitness yesterday when I sent them an email about my interest in registering for this event .... yep, they were definitely supportive of it ...
So, unless things change, I should be running around in 800m loops in K-Town this Spring ...
And, yes, will need to confirm by priority booking/reservation with the C-Moss B&B for Friday night and possibly Saturday, as it may not be a good idea to be driving back home after running 6 hours, eh !!! ...

Re: Kingston Self-Transcendence 6-Hour Race, 2014
Kingston is a surprisingly good race. Although short, the route travels along a paved path and road in and out of the old Fort Henry and provides views of historic buildings, lake Ontario, boats and wind turbines. In 2013 the counters were 12 humans, whom you got to know well, as you need to confirm your loops via eye contact and a brief conversation. At noon, a piper helped us transition to the second half of the 6 hour race. There is also fanfare when the marathon and 50K distances are reached. There is no need for nutrition/hydration logistics as you simply grab what you need when you need it as you are passing the aid station every 5 minutes.
If other plans allow, I'll be running. Otherwise I might volunteer.

Maybe this could be my 2015 trip to Canada. I thought Kingston was beautiful.

By the way, it is a loop in the sense that it is a closed circuit. But its not an oval. The track is more or less inside then outside of a U-shape. Not as boring as might be expected. The scenery does change. The counters do encourage the runners, even if you don't have a crew you're not alone. I might go down. I've done it a few times, but never had what I thought was a good race.
