favourite long distance shorts?

Postby ultraslacker » Wed Jun 30, 2010 5:44 pm

After work I'm going on a hunt for some new long distance running shorts.

I love my adidas shorts and my lulu skirts and crops, but I want longer shorts (anywhere from mid-thigh to just above the knee) so that I don't have to worry about chub rub and bodyglide. And my crops are too warm for hot days. Zipped pockets are a bonus. Comfortable enough for 50 miles.

Favourites? I am going to check out Winners, Sport Chek, Coast Mountain, Lulu, the Nike store, and whatever else I see.

I'm a huge fan of the Run Response shorts (Lulu). Longer shorts, two open pockets plus one zippered.

I don't know what the girl equivalent is.

that's exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for, but I don't think they have a women's equivalent. :( I asked about the Seek the Peak shorts in another thread because they are long, but someone said they aren't good for running.

My favorite pair is a pair of adidas ones - not skin tight, softer feel and they a zipped pocket - I think I got them at a sport chek or something.

(if you want to see them - I changed into them for the run at IMC)

I guess what I mean is that they aren't compression tight!
I hate the baggy ones anyhow!

Although would compression be a good option?

I don't want compression. I want something looser.

I have a pair of lulu crops that I had shortened to just at the knee so I could wear them biking. That's an option if there's a lulu pant or crop that you really like. And alterations are free when you buy them

I have a pair of moving comfort ones that pretty much match the description you are giving. I use them to wear around town and/or put my bike liners under them if I am biking around town and going in places (where I'd prefer not to be in bike tights). They were described as a bermuda style.

I love the length of the Lulu Astro crops, they are a shorter, above the knee crop and not tight. I have two pair. The only problem is they are made of that awful Luon material (way too hot for running in summer). Its too bad they couldn't make those in some sort of lighter, run-friendly material. I was actually thinking about getting the Run:Response men's shorts, but am waiting until I get down to the store to figure out what size to get.

I have these, they seem like about what you are looking for. Two open side pockets, one zippered one in the back.

That's hilarious. I was thinking of trying on and maybe buying these next time I was in MEC . . .

didn't try MEC because they're the opposite direction of where I was going.

Did go all through Park Royal though... Sport Chek, Winners, Nike store. Tried on some stuff, no luck.

As usual, lulu won.

I tried on a bunch of different shorts and settled on the Run: Tracker ones. They are not as long as I wanted, but significantly longer than my Adidas ones and I hope they will be enough to reduce chafing. Zip pocket on the side (which is better than the back due to hydration pack).

I also tried on the Knockout shorts (longer, no pockets, bad fit), the Still shorts (almost knee-length, pockets, bad fit), the Seek the Peak shorts (again bad fit... I seem to be between sizes! I really liked them aside from the fit), and the Groovy Run short (almost, not quite).

What an odd looking pair of shorts - that's a giant waistband
