I'm glad to hear that you're still going to run the 1/2. You go girl and kick some HM a$$.

Wishing you nice (or at least not too windy & wet) weather, and a really great race.
I'll leave you with one of my all-time favourite Robbie-T quotes...
"Your mind needs to always be in control of the race & not be persuaded to take bribery from other body parts. Tell your legs to shut up & keep running, you can rest once you're finished, not now, so giddy up, more running, less whining." -- Robbie-T
(love, love, love that quote)

Oooo, I'll need that on my run tomorrow, through the cold, highly likely snow and my knees telling me to f*** off every few minutes or so.
Good luck Babysteps.

Thanks everyone.
I'm just back from a 3 day conference and I hardly thought about the race at all. Then I drove back with my friend who is doing her first 10k and she is really nervous so now I'm getting nervous too! Oh well. A little adrenaline is a good thing!
I don't know that this will be my best race but I'm going to try to go in wiht a positive attitude and enjoy the experience. I know this year will bring a PB, and I hope it will be this race, but if it isn't it's still good training.

I kept this in mind during the race and made sure I was smiling (maybe not a full on grin but at least a pleasant happy face). It really helped a lot. It was a reminder to watch my form, relax and have a good day. So thanks for that.
This is the first race I've had where I've felt strong through the whole thing (well except for the last km when I thought I would die -blinding rain, 40 kph winds and a hill). My plan was to start at race pace and see how long I could hold it. I figured if I held it to 12k and then had to drop back to 7:00/km I'd still have a nice PB. Turns out I was able to hold the pace almost the whole way (I think I started to fade a bit km 18 or so). I kept looking at my watch and thinking, "wow - I'm still running on pace!"
Thanks for all the great advice and encouragement. It was greatly appreciated!
